Don't go to India Ab. In fact if Japan sounds too much I'd say only tropical resorts should be your go.

Japan is like being in a shopping centre where no one speaks English. A very modern and clean shopping centre.

As Teleku the other countries can be quite exhausting in their own ways, especially the huge cities like Mumbai, etc, and can be tirng for seasoned travellers, let alone new ones.

Victoria is about average really. There's been several pics posted the last day or so. She seemed competent but there plenty of rumors about the reasons and we the users will never know.

It IS a misstep in how it was handled though. Even if she was terrible, the service she provided was essential for running the sub that generates them a ton of traffic. Having someone else available and ready to step in and do the IAMAs right away should have been in place. That keeps things smooth and shows that you - as a business- understand the platform you're providing and how necessary the user content is for your business model.

On top of all this it turns out they also fired the reddit gift exchange mod. That was a surprising reveal itself since that was such a popular part of the site. Combined with the last two missteps you wonder what the hell is going on in backend world. Cult of personality consolidation or just cutting of nonprofessional tech slackers.

Time will tell but the quieter the leadership is the more it looks like the former.

I mean, the moment they forced everyone to move to a central office was a huge signal they had no clue what made Reddit popular. Turning it into a regular software house was basically the beginning of the end.

Edit: As for the new conversation, fuck India.

They're prepping to sell it to AOL or News Corp?   Ohhhhh, I see.

Pretty much a fad company (where's Digg?) with a lightning rod interim CEO.  Shows awesome Board at work.

AOL just got bought by Verizon*, but yeah I can see these moves as prepping for a sale to some old media company.

* Which is why nobody trusts Huffington Post, Engadget, and TechCrunch to remain on the "good" side of Net Neutrality any longer.

I'm in Paris for a week. Anything to do here?
Go to the Galeries Lafayette on the Boulevard Haussmann, while you are there, have a wander around the Opera Garnier just across the road. Go to a supermarket, buy stuff for a picnic and then take the RER out to Versailles and sit in the gardens for an afternoon. Walk around the Cimetiere Pere lachaise and the Cimetiere Montparnasse. Go up the Tour Montparnasse but do it twice, once during the day and once at night when the city is all lit up. Go out to La Defense and take a look at the view from the top of the Grande Arche de La Defense. It's a 3 dimensional representation of a 4 dimensional hypercube and it's at the end of the long axis that runs down the Champs Elysees, through Place de la Concorde and down the length of the Palais du Louvre. Go to the Place Vendome and walk from there down the Rue St. Honore to the Rue Royale and the Place de la Concorde. Go to Trocadero for the absolute best view of the Tour Eiffel, then walk from there down to the Ecole Militaire. Go to Invalides and see the tomb of Napoleon. The Musee de l'Armee there is very good too if you are interested in military history. Don't take the Metro for short trips, walk, Paris is a beautiful city that is designed to open up spectacular views as you walk around it.

Take the train out past the banlieues and visit Chantilly. Friend of mine lived there for a year while flying out of Charles de Gaulle and it's a beautiful Chateau with a pretty little French town by it. You might recognise the place from A View to a Kill.

Yeah, my boy will love it. Rumors of Land of Hyrule and Mario Kart IRL would be enough to even get teens and 20-somethings into the park.

However; Pokemon was and IS still a thing, will be a part of this, and I suspect will be gangbusters.

HI!!!  What a crazy couple of weeks I've had!  Srsly.  On 29 June, I had an accident.  I won't go into the accident because it was embarrassingly stupid.  Suffice to say, I broke my wrist (Surgery! Plate!! Pins!!!), ankle and bruised my ribs.  I'm proud to announce that I finally hit 11 on the doctor's 1-10 pain scale.  While in the hospital, my thyroid suddenly went insane and my heart went into a-fib.  Yikes!!  I was in hospital for five fucking days.  It was awful.  I didn't sleep at all even with all the IV morphine and Dilaudid.  Dilaudid... oh my, what a lovely drug.  I have to have some procedure to shock my heart to become normal again but first I have to sort out my thyroid.  Evidently I have Grave's Disease, too, although I didn't have it a few months ago when I had blood work done.  Really?  All of a sudden like this?  Anyway, I can have surgery or 12 -18 months of some drug with a 70% chance to cure.  I'm loathe to have more surgery.  Or even step near a hospital.  I might be able to have the heart procedure in a month or so despite the Grave's Disease.  It's really not so horrible considering it has the word Grave and Disease in it.  I mean look at like ALS or The Cancer?  I'd rather have this if I must have a disease.  And it's curable.  On a happy note, I probably won't get The Cancer while I'm taking this medicine.  Happy, right?

I have to use a pipe.  I can't skin up.  I hope I get Dilaudid when I have the procedure.

Sorry all that happened Signe, seems really rough.  I thought I had shit luck with the deaf thing, but that's a lot of rough shit to have happen at once.

Shame on you!

Sorry to hear about your hospital stay. 5 days in the hospital sucks, I was stuck there for 8 days last year and it was very much unfun.

And like Paelos said, it's good they're taking care of the thyroid stuff right away.  My Dad waited on this thyroid issues because he's stubborn and it messed up his vision some by the time he finally got it taken care of.

Thanks you guys.  And I feel like a zombie.  My brain is tired.  My teeth itch.  My hair hurts.  I can't play games or do anything with my right hand.  My left hand is useless.  I can't hop which is my main hobby.  I had to cancel my next tattoo in August because of the meds.  Life is suckitysucksucksuck.  All I can do is look at my electronic book machine and be cranky.  Lost a ton of weight, though.  Makes me want to hop.  :(

I would rather have all this though than your deaf thing, Teleku.  Really.  I have a big phobia about hearing and seeing.

Damn, sounds like a crazy time, Signe.  Glad you're getting taken care of and hope your broken bones heal up quickly.  Especially the wrist, since I assume you're right handed.  Not having your dominant hand to use would be horrible in so many ways.

Now I want to good "Grave's Disease" just to see what comes up.
