Nice.

In other news, I'm settled in at work enough to listen to music on a headset.

Update on Prison Escape 2015:

Everyone is back in the area around my parent's house.  Helicopters have been flying all night, and it sounds like they're running grid searches through the woods.  Residents have been told to stay in their homes, and if you leave you will not be let back in.

Edit:

Watching CNN during lunch, my folks are on a side road a couple miles passed the major roadblock where the police are redirecting traffic.  Per the news, they are about a mile outside of the "major" search zone but in the area where you are told to stay in your house/not allowed to travel into.

Well, yeah.

There's also a mental component to work that is so directly and viscerally returned in the way of heating your house in the winter, wishing for colder weather so you can build a bigger fire and save more money while everyone else is bitching about the cold and losing more money. And the disconnect between just writing a check to the power company and having crappy forced air heat vs loading another log into the stove and supporting local landowners.

Anyway.

Finally got my garden in, so late this year. Tomatoes, basil, bell peppers, thyme and....catnip. I fear for my garden.

So, went to the store for a loaf of bread. Everything was gone. Because Invest 91L (Tropical Storm Bill by tomorrow) is heading vaguely our way. Yeah, Houston will likely get the dirty side but this isn't Allison 2.

On the other hand, I can sort of see the issue. Allison was basically Noah's Ark time, and it was a Tropical Storm. Ike just destroyed everything, and it was only Category 2. (I was without power for 9 days. I had friends without power for two weeks). And we've had a lot of flooding lately -- some serious flooding.

But the bayous and such are back to normal, and they're projecting -- worse case -- 3 to 5 inches. Which we can handle.  (Well, 10 in isolated places. Which MY house can handle, thank you. Wind is a different story).

But seriously, did we have to strip the grocery stores of all the bead, water, chips and soda? (That's what Texan's apparently live on during storms. I wanted just a loaf of bread. That's all!).

Oh well. I've got some bread left. And bourbon.

And you know what? Betcha I go to work tomorrow and Wednesday, like normal.

I was doing my normal shopping.  Almost all the water was gone from the shelves.  You'd think they were holing up in a Vault for a few centuries.

Hahahaha!  I'm really good at this!

The trick to finding hurricane supplies after the hurricane is announced is going to the grocery store that NOBODY goes to because it fucking sucks.  Around here, it's Winn-Dixie.  When Ivan was approaching, I bought four flats of water, four flats of assorted canned soups, chili and vegetables and even a couple of bags of charcoal while they were fighting in the aisles at the local WalMart.

Gotta love the timing on Bill there. Looks perfectly timed to make peak potential flooding hours "when I go to work" and "when I go to lunch" and "when I want to go home" which means I get to gamble three separate times.

We'll see what the rain is like in the morning. In the meantime, I got frozen waffles, cereal, and bagels. And a few other things. But mostly the waffles. I've been craving waffles.

My family member who is a high-ranking Winn-Dixie official will be pleased to hear it's available for your shitty hurricane needs.  why so serious?

I legit assumed Winn-Dixie corporate was a ghost town and the actual locations were being supplied by the Dharma corp.

I assume they will be changing the name.  "Winn-Dixie" is almost "Get Yer Watermelons And Fried Chicken".

I found out that there is severe weather when I was forwarded an email about a change freeze.  I'm probably the worst weatherman ever.

I was looking through xbox 360 best games lists to find a Father's Day present for my dad. I'm not sure how it happened, but how in the hell was Red Dead Redemption released five years ago? My sense of time passing is seriously skewed as I get older.

Sprint? It's a goddamn Nascar event nowadays. When did it become the 2nd half of June 2015? I'm still of the mindset 2011 was a year or two ago.

Shitty day and no alcohol make Abagadro something something.

You can drink in Utah.  I remember getting VERY drunk in Park City right before I fell down a mountain and broke my thumb.  Yes, my thumb.  :(  It's an awful thing to break.  So is it different for the townies  or sommat?
