I wonder if they'll stick the Roll for Diversity Hub & Lounge next to the Dickwolves' Den of Rape and Pillage.

Probably not.

In other news, we're waiting on baby the second.  Lianka is a "human torpedo".

Due date?  12/25.

Edit: Very sorry Rhyssa for your loss.

Until gaming is approached as a real business, with all the inherent HR and productivity restrictions/rules, this is never going to change.

So, never.  Gaming will be the 2nd to last bastion of white guys bitching about how bad they have it.  The first being manufacturing.  Fuck, gaming makes construction look progressive these days and that takes some damn effort.

I'm pretty sure manufacturing is non-white people actually having it pretty bad for the most part now.

Condolences, Rhyssa. I missed that earlier.  Gets less painful but they're always missed.

I'm pretty sure manufacturing is non-white people actually having it pretty bad for the most part now.

Depends on the part of the country you're in.  Carolinas, Alabama and Midwest are still mostly white folks and where MFG has moved.  HR associate here worked at a MFG plant before this place and has stories from hell, all about white guys.  You know it's bad when you're being interviewed and they tell you, "You will be harassed. You have to be ok with that."

Ah, yeah. My industry does 99% of its manufacturing in China or SE Asia which is what comes to mind first.

Two people now have told me, recently, that I look like Harry Connick Jr.  Jon Cryer used to be the one I heard a lot, and before that it was Matthew Broderick.  I think I'm moving up in the world.

Data breach at Target retailers, with 40M+ cards/accounts used from Nov 27 to Dec 15 apparently lost.  You may wish to call your banks, etc. to report them stolen and get replacements.

The reviews. Oh my god the reviews.

As the photo indicates, this kit does include a fairly realistic looking piece of simulated cauliflower. But given their obvious importance in prostate exam protocol, I was disappointed to see that no other cruciferous vegetables were included; at minimum I would also expect to also see brussels sprouts and rutabaga.

Being a physician I have found its much easier to just get volunteers by advertising on Craig's List--"Free Prostate Exams". You'd be surprised how many folks will sign up. Course after a few hours your finger will start to cramp and go numb. Usually the folks are nice though and some are really grateful....hmm, that Stuart fellow that gets his checked every Friday might be a little too grateful...and creepy...

From wiki

Quote
In his 1995 book Silicon Snake Oil,[5] and an accompanying article in Newsweek[6] Stoll called the prospect of e-commerce "baloney". Stoll also raised questions about the influence of the Internet on future society, and whether it would be beneficial. He made various predictions in the article, e.g., about e-commerce (calling it nonviable due to a lack of personal contact and secure online funds transfers) and the future of printed news publications ("no online database will replace your daily newspaper"). When the article resurfaced on BoingBoing in 2010, Stoll left a self-deprecating comment: "Of my many mistakes, flubs, and howlers, few have been as public as my 1995 howler ... Now, whenever I think I know what's happening, I temper my thoughts: Might be wrong, Cliff ..."[7]

I'm at work right now because I'm one of like 5 people who isn't married with kids. I've been browsing the internet and falling asleep most of the day. I wish Christmas Eve counted as holiday pay.

I just want this holiday season to be over so I have to stop constantly interacting with my family and I can have a normal fucking week without something stupid going on.

Just noticed that all the shitty child-havers I work with owned the fuck out of me. It turns out I'm the only person in my entire department working next week because they all took vacation.

My supervisors (two brothers; yeah I know kinda weird but they have two distinct positions that count as supervisory) are both gone on a one-in-5-year vacation out of the country to visit their parents for 2 months. They specifically stamp down on this shit and make lots of people mad by not letting everyone in every department take all the major holidays off, but they're gone and these sneaky fucks I work with just waited for them to be gone in the middle of nowhere India to put in for the vacation since they can't say no.

Could be worse, you could have been me. Today was a "gift day" (basically not an official holiday in the benefit package but University administration gave everyone the day off with pay) but I worked all afternoon because one of our most critical servers had a wonky motherboard failure yesterday and I had to meet the tech so he could replace it. Then the server refused to boot into Windows because, apparently, the MBR boot manager is totally missing (server rebooted just fine into Windows yesterday twice after the crash and the PERC saw the virtual disks just fine after the repair.)

Its failover box is currently working fine but I don't like having one down for an extended period of time.

And, of course, I am exempt so I don't get compensated in any way for coming in on a day off.
