We're probably closer than a lot of places, which is why I'm trying to get up to speed on it. Since I have no smart phone or tablet....it's fun supporting them :)

I'm not a huge fan of the BYOD trend, mostly because it implies pushing out the cost of the device to the employee instead of the company.

I know that's not the point, but that's almost certainly what will eventually happen at my company at least. We already stopped paying for mobile phones.

That was the easiest $12 I've ever spent.

Thanks Holiday Bullshit (Cards Against Humanity).

I bought one too. No idea what the hell I'm getting, but for $12 I like surprises.

Day 1: I got a small bag with 3 lumps of coal. Possibly one lump before delivery. I will be regifting this along with a joke gift to my cousin!

Don't worry, employees will still have them provided.  However, the majority of workers will be contract hires and expected to supply them as part of their contract.   Oh ho ho ho. Reallllly?

A lot of the talk in the session I attended were focused on setting a company-owned partition on a user's phone so a remote wipe didn't kill their family pics and contacts. This was almost a year ago and already assuming user-owned devices over company-owned.

We just wipe their pictures, but we only do it if they lose their phone or get it stolen anyway.

At this point (if you do it Correctly), remote wipe of corp data without molestation of user data is where we are at.  The downside that I see, as a user, is that something is amiss in either the VZW Android image on my LG PoS 2 or in the Afaria app that causes it to fail to configure the Exchange account properly.  This may or may not be why I have to re-enter my password in the account settings every couple days.  Since I don't support this shit, I really have no idea.

I suppose another downside could be that it will enforce security policies on your device.  If you run without a password on your device, it will change that.

Password and time-out.  We had to change that about 6 months ago because our CEO lost 2 phones in about 3 weeks. Cue endless bitching from anyone who wanted to/ had to have their work e-mail on their phone since the mobile policy is to time out after 90 seconds of inactivity.

Got married on Saturday.

Yegolev, Brofellos, Phildo, and Ookii were there.

We all got very drunk, basically 3 days in a row. Along with a shitload of other people.

Thanks dude. I considered running a short "fund schild's new computer because he's a whore on the internet and is getting married right after hannukah but before christmas on pearl harbor day" drive via PayPal because literally every registry gift was for the wife but I still haven't finished grief titles. Pretty sure Paelos' grief title is going to be "fuck you, love schild" at this point.

because this fucking wedding all but dominated my life for the past 3 months.

That said, the event was basically perfect. There was not a single problem with any of the three "majorish" activities and the other two minor ones.

I'd go into wedding planning but everyone associated with weddings is fucking evil, blood-sucking-worse-than-lawyers-price-hiking buttheads.

From personal experience, you are being way too nice with your assessment of wedding industry people.

I don't think I could possibly charge enough to make it worth my while to deal with brides on their special day for a living.

edit - especially considering that 90% of the ones who have their head screwed on right don't hire wedding planners.

Yea I didn't have a wedding planner or anything like that. I did the invitations and other paper, dealt with a fucking florist (fuck wedding florists), and everything in between.

Without fail they all wanted me to review them on yelp but I'm far more inclined to write a scathing article about the industry. Filled to the brim with morons with no marketable skills and prices that do not even land in the ballpark of skill sets. Fuck the lot of them.

I've done wedding photography and my mother used to work in a bridal shop... and I fully agree with your assessment of the industry.

That said, congrats. Glad to hear it went off well.

This option was immediately culled.  Schild dressed normally.  I bought a new suit, grey with Saint's Row Purple shirt, tie, kerchief.  I forgot my belt, but so did Phildo.  Pretty sure no one noticed.
