It's ten degrees in Scotland. In the middle of December.

This is fucking tropical and not at all pleasant.

Where's my snow ?

It's Scotland, I am sure it will show up soon enough.

It's been in the 40s in San Antonio.  It's  a welcome diversion from the usual 3000 degree weather.

Ferk, you could probably sell your house in Cape Cod and buy half of San Antonio.

1080 sq ft, 2 bedroom. Probably ask 205 and take 199. So no,not set for life I'm afraid.

Okay, so maybe not half of SA, but 205 would probably get you 4,000 square feet down here, if you got in the right neighborhood.

Seriously, if you're feeling tense or unsettled, looking out on the water is soothing.  I was really happy to live there.

Yeah, same here in Warsaw.  We had one day of snow a few days back (which all melted within two days), and that's been it so far this year.  None on the horizon at all either according to forecast.  I mean, the highs and lows tend to go about 5 degrees above or below freezing, so its pretty cold outside, but still.  Last year Warsaw was covered in snow by mid October.  Odd.

Yes, but then you'd have to put up with Big l@ri and nobody wants to do that.

I'm chuckling at all the complaints of cold. Nov/Dec usually sucks for me because I have nat. gas forced air that costs a lot to heat the house poorly because it's a bit too warm to run the wood stove. This year, I've been running the stove pretty much since the middle of November, my gas bill is cut in half and the house has been nice and toasty warm.

I'm hoping for a city-wide power outage of at least a week to really convince a lot of these NYC welfare fugees to move south.

Sitting right around freezing here for the last few days. We've gotten a little bit of the best kind of snow possible: just enough to freak people out so that they don't drive to work, but not enough to actually have any impact on the roads.

Result: dream traffic the last couple days.

Man, fuck this cold. The last week it's been rainy/wet and highs in the 40's - which when it's cold feels much worse. That was after 3 days of 70's. If it would fucking snow, I wouldn't mind the cold so much. But no, we don't fucking get snow. It was 29 degrees F this morning when I took the dogs out for a walk - but no snow.

It's a lovely 14 here as well, just on that other scale. Dropping to below zero later today, turning windy, with 4 inches of snow on the ground. Lovely winter weather.

It's 12° outside and I come to work in a t-shirt. My colleagues have the thermostat cranked up to 30° (no, really) because 'we are cold when we come in and we need to get warm quickly'. So I get to slowly baste in the office.

I no longer have a sense of temperature after a week of chills and sweats from being sick.  Cold?  Hot?  All I know is I'm not comfortable no matter what the thermometer claims.

Why does the average iPad owner believe it should do everything their desktop does?  Today's user complaints are reminding me of CK's rant on cell phone complainers.  "It has to go to SPACE!!"

The question is why you wouldn't want it to do everything a desktop can?  I am itching to destroy my iPad by making it an offline php development platform.

The old lady asked if I wanted a tablet for xmas. Nope. A limited toy that will be obsolete in a year? Ecch. Went with a camera instead, at least that will take a few more years to be obsoleted.

There's a big BYOD push in Corp Land.  The tech will happen.

It's funny being such small potatoes admin, because all that hype you see at the C level happens at the sea level, too....and we don't have the funds, the manpower nor the need for it. But I've been to a few BYOD training sessions. It's interesting stuff, but completely useless to me professionally.

That really, really fucking scares me.  I don't doubt the tech and user experience will make this a viable option one day.  However, today is not that day.
