It didn't take long to remember that I can call up previous file versions in Dropbox, which solved the problem.

I posted the same thing about two weeks ago.  I can't believe how much work that feature has saved me.

Somehow that just seems like an odd thing for someone here to be excited about. Not trying to sound dismissive, just can't really recall there ever being much mention of the xgames on f13.

I never understood the xgames.  I assumed it was because I was old.

It could be that or it could be because most people over the age of 25 don't consider those "real sports" in the sense that Americans don't think of soccer as football, only the sports involved are even less relevant as sports than curling.

Guys, guys. Maybe I'm not making it clear.

X-Games means private parties. Private parties means I get to big time entire lines of people HOPING to get in.

This is where 5 of us were standing when Macklemore (left) and Just Blaze (right) played an unannounced show at the American Legion building during SXSW:

Now we get 3 events a year where shit like this happens (SXSW and ACL for those who want to keep score).

Or to be more clear, I traded hanging out with possibly dying video game nerds to getting hammered at open bars with celebrities and getting cooler swag.

Its always about the exclusivity, not the activity.  Folks are expecting more depth.

Of course it's about the fucking exclusivity! You think I want to stand out in 90 degree weather all day with the unwashed masses that, gasp, bought tickets while watching some random 17 year old do a fucking kickflip on a big ramp.

Maybe could have cleared that up earlier.  Exclusive parties due to kickflips isn't something I'd have even contemplated initially.

For example, if you happen to be in town on the 27th, we have an extra spot in VIP for Theophilus London and the Dandy Warhols.

No, I knew you only cared about exclusivity from the way you blarged all about the VIP thing. Others seem to have missed that.

I don't know if any of you have ever been to a "big" event in Austin. The number of bodies if overwhelming. So all of these events are a case of either getting into the private shit or simply hiding in my apartment until the tourists leave.

I guess that makes me a special Spergy kind of old since I could give two shits about getting in exclusive parties with celebs and wonder why anyone would.

Also, can't understand why anyone gives a shit about the X-Games, MMA or UFC, so tragically unhip I will always be.

So yeah.  Hi and all that jazz.  I figure since I'm playing with f13ers I may as well start posting here again.

Also, X-Games are only good for crash highlights.  Does anyone watch them for any other reason?

Because being in exclusive parties means seeing bands and such without 500 other goddamn people in a less than a thousand square feet.  It's an effortless way to see good shows. I got to see the same Macklemore show tens of thousands of people saw, but I got to see it with less than 100 people in a place where the air conditioning still worked (as opposed to out on a lawn where it was, oh, 100 degrees steady).

I now officially own my own business. I suppose it's not really official, but I submitted all the paperwork and such, so it's on the way to becoming so.

And no, it's not a sticker-selling business.

Sticker magnets!

It's a video game company. I needed to officially form a company to meet the requirements for some things like dev kits and also because I am starting to pay for some contracting work and wanted to appear more official, have a separate bank account, etc. It's not really a change from what I've already been doing, just more formalized.

I love xgames because they're mostly fast, fun and wild.  Maybe they've only been around since '95, but some of those sports have existed much longer although maybe not as a formal thing.  Like skateboarding.  One of my heroes is Duane Peters and HE was old in 1995.  FFS, I was married before 1995!  So stop bragging about your youth-i-ness, Ingmar!  Damn kids.  The only other spectator sports I like are football and the other football and the third football, too.  Rugby - GO ALL BLACKS!!  Hockey - FLYERS! - although having had to deal with hockey players for work it tarnished the shiny for a few years.  Motorsport, all sorts, and football.  Did I mention that?  Curling is weird, (sorry, Scotland).  Maybe they should cross Curling with Hurling (Churling?)... at least you can hear them grunt in Hurling (sometimes they die though because it's violent and Irish) and it's less reminiscent of housework.  Golf and tennis are boring.

I even like banger racing!  Oh, and what's that thingy where people make bizarre vehicles and jump off of docks and stuff.  I LOVE THAT!  And motorcycle hill climbing!  Love that, too.  There's a decent one in Bethlehem, PA which isn't so far from my sister's house.  Except, of course, I'm the only one in my current family who enjoys sports.  :(

I like watching most fast sports.  I should have just said that.

If it was a party with celebs I would be fine with it. I am too damned old to give a shit about music though...especially anything published after the mid-90s  Get off my lawn! A loud concert sounds hellish.

I do enjoy MMA on occasion. I used to love UFC before they implemented all the pesky safety things like rules and weight classes. Now it is just a better alternative to boxing (which is so incredibly rigged I can't watch it. At least until Don King is dead).

I feel the same although I'm not really that old. Music hasn't appealed much to me since American Idol came on the scene. That seems to coincide with when I switched to sports radio.

It's funny. Spotify has rekindled my interest in music a great deal... just not the desire necessarily to go see it live, and a lot of what I listen to these days is me catching up on metal music I missed in the '80's and '90's and new death metal.

Live music has become more of a practical matter.  For example, I'm a huge Steely Dan fan and found out that they were coming to town this fall.  Excitedly, I went to look at tickets and saw that they were charging $90 per seat in an open air venue.  So, $200 to see them with a date under shitty acoustic conditions?  I don't think so.  I could buy their entire music library and DvD's for that.
