Cartoon Network has pretty much admitted that only stoned people watch them at 4am.   They were advertising this show "Off the Air" to be shown at 4am for the next week.  I recorded both of last night's 15 min episodes.  The first was called "Animals" It starts out as Stock Wildlife footage I recognize from one of the 50's and 60's films which breaks in to psychedelic animation. That goes on for a minute or so before moving on the next clip and it cycles through ever-more bizarre clips and animation before ending in some weird animation with minor clip hybrid.

I had it on while getting dressed this morning and wow was it bizarre.  I really don't have more to say about it than that but wanted to know if anyone else had seen it.

Have you seen Superjail?  It literally hurts my brain at the end.  I'm not sure if some psychology department partnered with Williams Street, but that's as close as I've come to being on LSD.

Belize was sweet because they have a program (hopefully still around in 20 years, but who knows) where if you have a defined benefit retirement (yes they still exist) they would roll out the red carpet for you and your money.  Now I don't know where to fantasize about when I am bored at work.

Do you have $322,000 handy? If so you may be able soon to buy yourself a Hungarian passport and live anywhere you want in the EU.

I have, but even Superjail has some semblance of plot and narrative, even if it's an ultraviolent and shlocky one.  Yes, it's trippy and bizarrely drawn but it's watchable by even the sober, like myself.   There's no way I could physically sit down and watch OTA without some sort of chemical stimulant.  It was bizarre enough just being the background soundtrack to my morning routine.

I think it'll happen, the baby boomers will have to die off but the millenials combined with the pot-smoking portion of our generation should be enough to push it to legality before we're dead.  If the recreational use law passes in Colorado next week I'd even put money on it.

I watched about 2 minutes of Superjail and just shook my head. I don't have any fucking idea what was supposed to be going on there, but it was like being ushered into the brain of a 16-year old angsty teen through the medium of drawings on his textbook covers meant to piss off his teachers.

Are you fighting moving to it just on principle or do you have a specific reason to not want to use 365?

There aren't very many places with a good excuse to use in-house Exchange, so I don't know why you'd want to avoid migrating. Running a migration project to 365 or GApps will look good on a resume, too.

Like anything cloud based you have to worry about bandwidth / up time of your internet connection.   Additionally if you are in a field where you have to follow certain compliance guidelines 365 can make it difficult.  If you really want to freak people out just point towards the fact that due to various legislative laws past in the last decade the government can look at your data hosted on office 365 and you would never know it.  That particular track works well on the tinfoil hat crowd.

Honestly though price / features its a better deal than paying software maintenance or trying to navigate the nightmare of volume licensing for Microsoft office.

Is this where we say "get over it"? The next tech business I start will be all in the cloud. Salesforce.com, Amazon services, enterprise gmail, etc. No capital costs whatsoever.

Well, there is a shitty internet connection and the assorted and contradictory client requirements that are imposed on us, but it's not really my decision.  Or that if we ship everything off-site, I'm not really needed anymore.  I suppose putting myself out of a job looks great on a resume.

Yup.  Still dealing with the dumbass users and MS fucking up, just depends on the server location.  I maintained Exchange and it wasn't horrible.

I'll chime in to managing a exchange server it is not a ton of work nor is the infrastructure to be honest.  Dealing with the users and the goofy shit they install or want to maintain is far more work.   The one thing you will really miss is the visibility into mail issues.  You have far less access to logs / config info when you are in the cloud and you have to rely on the 3rd party support guys.

My ability to trace individual messages actually got better with our cloud move actually. I could never afford the log space to have message tracking on all the time, now I get 7 years of it, every message sent or received searchable etc. That's one place where the amount of administration is massively decreased - when we go into discovery.
