Dallas is a whole different ball of wax than south Texas, i.e. San Antonio south, when it comes to weather.

Seeing all of those 2 story houses tells me that you live in the North.
I have a 2-story in the south and people think I'm an alien.

Well, that's not MY street - it was just the picture from the front of the local paper's website.
But, I do live in a two story house that is currently covered in snow.

I guess it depends on what part of the South. We didn't build anything but 2-stories in Dallas when I was working projects there. The same was true of Austin, though the 2nd story was often tucked among the rafters and had dormers.

Large cities in southern areas have tend to have multiple stories as the norm.
Towns do not.

When it's cheaper to build up than out, people do. I get the idea.

Coldest I have ever been in my life. "Oh, it's Texas, this windbreaker will do for the week." I had that exact same experience in Monterrey. But I should have known better. Me too. I still have my big jacket from then and Yellowstone in mid-May. It snowed in May!

When I lived at 7300 ft in the Rockies, I watched it snow during 4th of July fireworks. It was awesome and surreal.

Just got out of a consultation with my attorney. I love having an attorney. It keeps one from going all Nerf on a situation.

Neighbor over a tree on the property line. I'm trying to be a nice person and they're insane. Just a precautionary visit in case the insanity involves legality. My attorney laughed at my concern, but hey...they could go all Nerf ON ME

I just fired my lawn service. During that time, my concerns about the quality of mowing and my chief complaint upon hiring them (weeds, specifically crabgrass) was not even close to addressed. I scheduled a meeting with the manager to discuss these concerns and he didn't even show up. He sent some flunky in his place. My last mowing looks like the last haircut I tried to give the dogs. And, predictably, I've gotten 3 phone calls from the jackass manager today.

Lawn service, lol. I didn't know Texans had enough lawns to require cutting, let alone a service.
I'm going out for dinner tonight with co-workers up from AZ. Its 43 degrees out. I'm going to laugh at their misery.

Yeah, it's fucking stupid. You have to put inordinate amounts of water on your lawn to keep it green. I am dying to get a more xeriscaped property. I gotta have a little grass in the back yard for the kids to play kickball on though.

Make sure to get photos of the lawn. And the dogs.

Why did you order the turkey if you were getting pastrami? Did you get a top bun of white bread and the bottom of wheat bread?

I haven't eaten red meat in a few years, and wondered why when I was ordering "turkey pastrami" I got sick.
"Turkey pastrami" at most delis is a turkey product. At this place, it was "turkey and pastrami." Slight difference...

Hmmm, I was only aware of the beef kind. Turkey pastrami sounds like turkey bacon. I'm sure it's good, but it strikes me as slightly off.

Turkey pastrami is much much closer to real pastrami than the bacon crap is to real bacon. A couple times I've had it and not realized it was turkey until afterwards.

Turkey bacon is pretty awesome, IMO. That's all we buy any more and while I still enjoy real bacon when I have it on restaurant sandwiches, I do kind of prefer the turkey variety though. Oscar Meyer brand though. We tried the Jennie-O brand because we figured a company that focuses on turkey products should be good, right? Wrong, it was really bland and not tasty, at all.

It is, and there's not a damn thing we can do about it. Might as well be cheerful though, just to spite those bastards.

I've long said the majority of people are short-sighted, ignorant, stupid and selfish.
That said, there's still plenty of room to have an enjoyable life and be hopeful. You just have to adjust your equations to account for those 'people' factors.
Also, cherish the ones who aren't.
Also also, I now want a pastrami sandwich on pumpernickel.

Some days, being a parent is just a shit, shit job. There is nothing worse than seeing your child hurt and miserable, from entirely preventable mistakes that you (as an adult) saw coming a mile away and tried to warn them about.
Sucks, sucks, sucks, sucks, sucks.

That sucks. Beats me trying to explain to my son that "your friend telling you not to go potty is not a good reason not to go potty. Go when you have to, it's your decision." Got to love peer pressure at age 3 causing my son to piss his pants.
