Isn't it amazing how much better southwest/mex food is when it's home made?

Yeah, in this vein I find it hilarious that authentic "street tacos" are now what a lot of these restaurants are pushing.  I wouldn't touch an authentic Mexico City street taco with a 10 foot pole.  And a lot of authentic Mexican food can be quite scary-  not your typical enchiladas.  Mmmmm. Tripas and lengua good.

I guess I should clarify. I once made my own enchilada sauce, which is very labor intensive, but it beat the living crap out of any enchilada I have ever had, from restaurant to canned sauce. I know, it goes without saying, much like your own slow cooked tomato sauce for pasta, but somehow, it was just that much better.

I hate Bank of America so GODDAMN MUCH.

If capitalism really worked, that fucking shithole of a company would have already been devoured by goddamn wolves. They make logging into pay your mortgage a nightmare of bullshit.

"I'm sorry, we've moved the log-in page for the fourteenth time, invalidating your links. We've hidden the login button. We've added thirty different things you can log into, so you have to hunt for yours. And because your account is one we bought from another company which bought it from another company, we've decided to stop even asking for your password and instead demand the answers to security questions you never set, because we didn't actually get that data from the last company we bought it from.

Oh, you can't log in because you don't know what bullshit we filled those fields with? We'll send you a one-time key you have 30 minutes to dig out of your spam folder and you can start the whole process again!"

EVERY MONTH it's something. I seriously think they don't want people to pay on time. Who on earth makes it difficult for people to GIVE THEM MONEY?

What's the difference between "attic" and "Attic crawlspace"? Attics, that passive ridge venting is pretty awesome. I'm considering paying 500 bucks or so for a solar-powered fan that kicks on when the attic temp climbs above like 110 or 120 for extra "oomph".

I am 90% sure they are hoping people forget (or can't figure out how) to pay.  I can't set up a recurring payment and have to log in every month like it's the 20th century.  I waffle between hoping they sell off the mortgage to a functioning bank and hoping they just completely lose it.  Free house would be nice.

You can walk in an attic. I have to crawl through my attic crawlspace. I would love to do a ridge vent, just not going to be in the budget for at least 3 years (when the basement waterproofing is paid off). I was up there running a dedicated line for the sump pump install.

500 or 600 bucks pays for a solar-powered attic fan. That might be a good compromise, depending on where you live.

I'm do for a new roof in the next few years, or when the next hurricane comes through.

Probably for the best, since all the roadways, railways and tarmacs have likely melted into impassable sludge by now. I have quit complaining about our rainy June up here after watching reports from around the country. FUCK THAT. I will take cloudy and 70 with occasional misting rain.

The only part that sucks is the humidity, which we are not used to around here. Went to the Seattle Aquarium yesterday (with vdl and Sauced, as a matter of fact), and it was like a goddamned sauna inside. I was a little surprised not to see the fish swimming around between all the patrons. Between that and trying to track my 3.5 year old among throngs of kids his size and having to bend over to talk to him or pick him up to help him see over the edge of a tank, I ran out of steam even quicker than normal  Get off my lawn!

My fucking GOD it was hot this weekend. I've lived in Mississippi all my life, lived through droughts and shit where you can fry eggs on the sidewalk, and I can not fucking take the heat anymore. My wife and I went out early on Saturday to do some shopping (early for me so about 9:30). We were done by about 3 pm and I was wrecked. Laid down for a 30 minute nap and woke up 2 hours later. Felt like shit all night. The sun literally cooked my fucking innards.

I cannot imagine what places on the East Coast who have never gotten this kind of heat in living memory are doing sweltering in this shit without AC.

I left for CO because it was so bad in Atlanta. It went from a high of 82 to a high of 106 in a matter of two weeks. It set a record high for June. Now it's coming back down to normal levels by the time I get back on the 4th.

We need rain in the southeast. Buckets of it.

Since I am going to the Norfolk area for the 4th I am really hoping it is going to cool down some.   Considering the high's here have been the mid 80's (normal years high nineties but dry).     I am not looking forward to the humidity / temp out there.

I said in March when everyone was loving the warm and dry winter that they were going to regret it when we ended up in full on drought mode in July and August.

A-yup.

My grass is already dead.  I didn't even try watering because I knew it was going to be a futile effort this year.   We were in drought warnings at the beginning of June.   When the straight line winds blew through the Midwest on Friday I had a lot of friends saying they lost big, old trees because they blew over.  Nothing for the roots to grab on to but dust.

Midwest desert, baby.  Here it comes.
