Ya, Seattle feels a lot smaller than most large US cities. There's a neighborhood feel to it, even if its technically a metropolis like any other.

The Capitol Hill Massacre was just a few blocks from where I live. We lost two of our grocery store clerks that we knew by name, Jeremy and Jason.

I should get back to nature, too.  You know, like going to a shop for groceries instead of the computer.  Maybe a condo in the woods that doesn't even have a health club or restaurant attached.  Buy a car with only two cup holders or something. -Signe

I had completely forgotten about that until I read your link. Not sure how I managed that, other than alcohol and old age.

Moving sucks.
Not fitting everything in the truck sucks more.
Finding out the building manager at the destination can't find the elevator lock-off key? Yea, that really fucking sucks.

I hear those pods thingies are pretty nice for moves. I guess it depends on how far and how much time you have.

Friends of mine used it to move from Houston to Denver, worked out much more nicely then a Uhaul.

Last couple of times that I've moved, I had big, burly men come and put all my shit in boxes then put the boxes on a truck. Then, around a month later, a day or so after I got the keys to my new apartment, they turned up with the truck full of my boxes and dumped them all in the middle of my floor. Not doing it any other way in future.

Last time I did this I ended up with a broken dresser, TV stand, and end table.  Their response was "it was like that when we got it" which is always my favorite ;-)

Managed to hand-pick blueberries at around 3lbs/hour today.  Note to self: bring a stepladder next time - the kids and elderly strip everything bare below 4 feet or so, but there's so much out of reach it's nuts.

Well, this is going to be weird.  Just heard that my direct manager is taking a new position within the company and is essentially moving to the other end of the building.  He'll be equal with the guy who is his boss now and they"ll both be reporting to the same guy.  Not sure how this is going to affect how things work around here though.  Just...strange.  His new position starts on the 25th, and I leave on my 30-day furlough on the 29th.  So I'm gone for a month while the replacement is being searched for and then I come back to.. what?

So a Taco Del Mar opened up in town this weekend. My wife and I gave it a try. It's pretty good. It's like a step up between Taco Bell and a step below genuine tacquiera type tacos. Decent prices, decent food for that type of thing.

I've been burnt out on those "fresh mex" places for a while. Chipotle, Moe's, Qdoba, Freebirds. They all run together in my mind now, I don't think we have a Taco Del Mar here anymore.

It's not like any of them can compete with the gut-busting glory is the chain of cheap SoCal burrito places (Roberto's, Robertito's, Alberto's, Albertito's & etc...) anyway.

God, I want to open one of those here in Boston.  No one would eat there but me and the yard workers but damn that's good food.

I find Taco Del Mar is alright when they first open a location and then steadily get worse and worse until the food is basically Taco Bell quality.

I've never been to Chipotle, Moe's, Qdoba or Freebirds, but when I lived in California I absolutely loved Baja Fresh.  And I just found out one is opening up a couple of miles away from where I live.   Heart

You know, what with all the bitching about illegal aliens, you'd think that these places wouldn't survive. Oh, wait, anglo-america wants its mexican food sanitized into a nice, easily comprehended franchise!

Oh, I think you misunderstood me. I love Chipotle, especially their rice, which has zero to do with Mexico but is very yummy. I'm just surprised that these franchises survive in the current political clime.
