I'm imagining that someone went Clockwork Orange on Ironwood to force him through that mess.

Gentlemen do not discuss these matters.

But, frankly, I could have had 17 Aria clones sitting on every part of my body for the rest of my life and it still wouldn't pay me back for watching that shite.

Seriously, friends don't let friends watch Twilight.  Avoid.  It's so unbelievably fuck stupid it broke my fuckstupidometer.

Well, ouch.  I cracked the corner off a tooth this morning.  That's interesting.  Now to get an appointment with the dentist to get it fixed. And I was just there on the 14th for a regular check-up and x-rays as well.

Ahh the joys of working at the student health clinic. This week I get to cover lunches at the "health resource" desk. Basically I get to hand out condoms, cold medicine, and pregnancy tests to students.

If only it had been on a honeycrips while reading Black Company.

That'd be the triwizard tournament right there.

Anyone ever had blood drawn from an artery? My doctor just sort of fucking dropped it on me as I was leaving. I had blood drawn normally, was checking out, and the receptionist was like "Oh, for the rest of your blood work you have to go to the hospital next door. Before ten in the morning, please, because the results are better/more accurate".

Which lead to me saying "Say what?"

"We don't draw blood from arteries here. Just go in and hand them this paper."

I looked it up. It's probably from my wrist I think? I dunno. I made the mistake of watching the procedure on YouTube. It looks...unpleasant and my mind is conjuring up all sorts of complications. Anyone with actual experience? Am I looking at "horrible, scarring, painful experience" or "Not as bad as you think, but it's not something you'd want to do often"

I mean where does this fall on the scale between "Regular Blood Draw" and "Invasive Colonoscopy" in terms of "I should put this off as LONG AS POSSIBLE."

It actually looks less painful cause they don't need to jam the needle as far in.

Which reminds me I should probably start donating blood again. I used to be a regular donor in my youth.

I dunno. I'm honestly just freaking out a bit due to the whole "Yeah, see, fucking around with those things is how people kill themselves. On purpose.". So deep down in my mind, apparently I'm viewing this as incredibly risky even though intellectually I know it's not.

Also, painful. But mostly just dangerous and unnecessary and just....bothersome.

Maybe if they were cutting off your wrist and asking you to squirt in a bucket it'd be problematic...

Why does it seem like so many guys are scared of needles?

Giving blood is so simple too. You barely even feel the needle. I don't even notice it anymore when I donate or have a physical done.

Now, injecting things? You do feel that a lot more, but that's just the medicine hitting the vein. I'm not a huge fan of a shots, but it's not something I worry about.

I had a thing about needles growing up, but after busting my leg open on my mountain bike when I was 12 and seeing what the inside of my leg looked like (yellow fat!) they had to give me a local to fix me up that required 14 shots under the skin surrounding the open gash. After that, never been bothered by needles.

Eh, I give myself a shot once a week and it's just one of those trivial things I do.  Once you are subjected to needles you tend to not care about them too much (as you said).  I had to have blood drawn every 3 weeks (like 6 vials) when I was 16 for like 6-7 months, so I got good about needles.

Eh, to me it's just "never having done it". I get nervous about things like that that I haven't experienced.

Take all the blood you want the regular way, not anything I care about. I'm blase about rather painful stuff (the injections for fixing an ingrown toenail are, for instance, rather unpleasant. But after the first time, it was a known issue and other than being unpleasant it's just, you know, how it works.

I'm just kinda jittery about this because it's new and I've never even heard of it. It's not like anyone I know has had it done, so I can't simply say "So, it anythinng other than a slightly more complex jab in the arm?"
