I had a great vacation, for a change, and actually started relaxing toward the end there. Unfortunately, the weight of reality is now like a ton of something that is squashing me. I really liked having fun at the beach and wish I was back there. Right fucking now. /sadf

We already left the boy behind when I went to AZ for a weekend, and will do so again in three weeks when we cruise to Cozumel. Also, the someecard helped a bit, so thanks. We're taking a vacation to Hawaii in July. It'll be the last one we take in 20 years (as just the two of us), so we're making it good. We just got back from Maui a week or so ago. It was a lot of fun, but pricey. Bring lots of cash. Every vacation we take is now 'the last one for 20 years!!!!!!! .... maybe', so we like to make them good. |

ugh been suffering from terrible bug lately.. just getting over it (stomach virus variety). makes me want to quit smoking... this is the least i've smoked in years. seems like a good idea. i think i'll definitely cut if anything.. doesn't help that cigs are almost the price of weed now anyways.

Ya, if its Qwest, I fell ya. I used to have a recurring problem with the neighborhood switch/box getting congested 'ports' or whatever they call them, and each time I'd call them, I'd have to spend over an hour and a half on the phone with them, even if it was EXACTLY the same problem as the last 4 times, which involves sending down a tech to my neighborhood box and switching my particular service to another box down the street (which would crap out in a few weeks as well). Its like they do not keep a single documented case per- customer or some such. |
I should get back to nature, too. You know, like going to a shop for groceries instead of the computer. Maybe a condo in the woods that doesn't even have a health club or restaurant attached. Buy a car with only two cup holders or something. -Signe

I'm dealing with Speakeasy (the people I buy my DSL from), Covad (the people THEY buy DSL from), and AT&T (the people I buy the phone line from). Speakeasy has actually been pretty good except that they initially tried to pawn the problem off on AT&T, who always take forever to send a repair tech out. Now that we've eliminated AT&T as the problem (as of this morning when the AT&T tech came out, tested everything, and found nothing wrong), the ball passes to Covad, who's sending someone over tomorrow morning.

My ISP (VirginMedia) is doing some horrible throttling during the day that means my latency is usually 500-700ms until 10.30pm or so, when it drops to 50ms  |

I like it. Doesn't seem invasive, doesn't even run in the background when you close it or reboot. In fact, it seems like it's just a very neat flash app.
