Curry.. the dish I've always been tempted to try but dare not risk in middle America with no Indian population around.   I need to find me someome who knows a good one and reccommend a place.
Yes, you never know where you might find a good Indian restaurant. I found a very nice one in a strip mall in a suburb of Salt Lake City, of all places, while on a business trip. Inexpensive too.

Man, I'd forgotten about the Taj Mahal.  My parents used to take me there in the 70s when they could afford it.  I was far too young really to appreciate the food at the time, but I did love that they treated my little sister and I like royalty.  I think my parents even have a copy of that book somewhere...

When we couldn't afford the Taj (which was most of the time as students) we'd go down the road to the original Koh I Noor on Gibson St. It was excellent, but it was set up more like a cafe, and they didn't have a license for booze, so you brought your own along. Unfortunately it fell into the River Kelvin. Well, not quite - it was going to, so the entire block was condemned and demolished. I think they did quite well out of the insurance because when they opened in Charing Cross they were pretty up-market and expensive. Still great, but no longer amazing value. Shish Mahal, Ashoka, Spice Of Life, Agra... most of the West End restaurants that I frequented 20 odd years ago are all still there. Gives me a warm feeling in a Glasgow that's otherwise changed so much.

When I lived in Long Beach years ago, there was an amazing Thai restaurant about a 5 minute walk from were I lived.  They specialized in Northern Thai (that's where the owner and chef was from, iirc) and had the best sticky rice I've ever had.  I forget the name of the place but it was on East Broadway just off of Junipero near Bixby Park, if anyone is familiar with the area.  I have no idea if they're still there now, though.

Over and out.

Not super familiar, but I was a few blocks away from there for Anime Expo back when I did the anime circuit.  We hit that beach next to it for one of the days.  Wish I had known about the Thai place since we could have walked to it.

I moved right when Anime Expo was moved to Long Beach, iirc.  I had to go to Anaheim the couple of years I attended.

According to the wiki it switches locations a lot.  It was the 2002 convention I went to.  One of the rare cons I didn't work, other than helping out for about an hour so my friends could get a break, eat, and wander the dealer's room.  That short period was enough to tell me working Expo sucks.

It's a wind project siting workshop the AWEA is hosting, not a real "con".

It went ok, thanks. I had to sit in a room with a guy I was in competition for the job with, and I wished him good luck and gave him one of my patented evil grins.  Oh ho ho ho. Reallllly?

I think I did alright with the questions, but a few stumped me. Anyway, its over and done with, will know in a couple of weeks.

I'd like to write a novel and learn to play a musical instrument. Not for fame or fortune, just because they are things I admire other people for doing. Oh. You weren't talking to me.

I want to live on a hill and own a goat that will keep my lawn nicely trimmed while Righ writes a novel and I go deaf.

I want to create a body of work I feel genuinely proud of and will give pleasure to other people.

And enjoy enormous amounts of good sex, good food and good company. Possibly all at once.

Own many, many acres of wooded mountains. Miles. Then build a cabin and never be seen again by society. Except at open mic night.

There is no evidence of Romans vomiting up food voluntarily.

And bread was much worse on teeth than wine, modern flour with no grit is amazing!
