Temperatures and distances I can do easily and automatically in my head. Inches to centimeters remains a bit mysterious. I'll always think of myself as being 6'2" and not whatever ungodly number of centimeters it works out to be.

2.54 cm in an inch.  30.48 cm in afoot.   You're 187.96cm

I'd be offended if I weren't Professional Services.

But neither statement are wrong, as Sam can attest.

I realize it is pretty much my fault for only going once a decade but when did dentists start splitting cleanings into 2 visits "to get the insurance company to pay for it all"?

My parents didn't have dental insurance until I was possibly 12 or 13, and when I went in for my first cleaning that woman really earned her paycheck that day.

When you haven't gone in a decade, and the company will only pay for a 30 minute cleaning visit.

Shit, I go every 6 months and it takes every bit of that 30 mins to get all the tartar off and she's using that new scalar water pick along with hand cleaning. I'm considering doing 3-month visits now.

My employers have always solved that problem by offering dental insurance so terrible it wasn't worth buying.

Our insurance got scaled back a couple years ago and only pays for 2 visits a year. I have good teeth but hadn't been for over a decade, leading to the decay that earned me a crown on a molar (the reason I finally went to the doc about it). Now I go 3 times a year and pay for the third out of my FSA with pre-tax dollars. Ends up costing me the equivalent of $60 or so out of pocket, which to me is more than worth having teeth.

This.  $1500 max claim per year doesn't go very far.  Plus copay.  Plus pay 25% of anything not a cleaning.  In-network.  We can't even get a claim filed if it's out of network.

When I had my wisdoms out last year it cost ~$500 out of my pocket, which means the extra $1500 wiped my claim limit.  It's great I got them out, but wasn't able to go back for cleanings/fillings, so I'm back to having a train wreck in my mouth.

Raising public awareness of online security = good.

Using typical mainstream media scare tactics so I have to spend my entire day calming people down? Fuck you, mainstream media.

I'm curious what you say to your clients to calm them down.  I haven't had to do that yet, but I'm betting it's coming any minute now.

If you were vulnerable there's not much you can say to calm them down since despite what a lot of companies are saying there's no way of knowing if you leaked any sensitive information.

Aren't Microsoft servers mostly immune to the issue? Which is a statement that boggles my mind and tastes very bad in my mouth.

Yes they were immune which is why the heartbleed.com site is associated with ex-Microsoft people and they released the news before almost all the Linux distros had patches ready awesome, for real

BTW in case anybody was wondering the server f13.net runs on was not affected cause we're running an older version of OpenSSL that doesn't have the issue.

I am waiting for the wave of forced password reset emails to start up and the phishing emails that will come along for the ride. As far as what to tell people its tough to see what the actual fallout is going to be like. Thankfully while we had a few servers running that version of OpenSSL we didn't use ssl certificates at all on them for anything so it was a fairly simple update and move on.

Yes, I was talking about another virus that they blatantly let through FOPE, despite the fact it was a fucking stupid screensaver wrapped in a zip called an Exe.  It may as well have been called 'FUCKINGVIRUS.ZIP'.  Yet 365 just pushed it on through to all the clients, where InTune dutifully picked it up.

Talk about left and right hand....
