I was going to make a joke that "It's goddamn 70 and partly sunny!"
Then I checked the weather and... it is.
No Joke. We are the animals to our environment and our environment is usually bloody wet and fucking freezing. It's been a non-stop comparative heatwave for weeks and I'm utterly fucked off with it. It doesn't help that Scottish Offices would NEVER EVER EVER IN A MILLION YEARS spring for things like AC, fans or GODDAMN FUCKING WINDOWS THAT OPEN, so I'm being fucking microwaved in here. But hey, I'm sure it won't affect my normal happy mood.

Sorry to hear that, Nebu.
But speaking of surge protectors and such, anyone happen to have an idea of why my UPS has taken to just putting out a high pitched alarm when the power goes out? It didn't used to do that and to get the alarm to stop, I have to turn the UPS off and then back on. This happens even when the power just flickers and comes right back on.
It usually does that when the battery is starting to fail. Probably the voltage is falling off which is triggering the alarm. Most UPS batteries only last 3 - 4 years. Replacement batteries are fairly cheap depending on what kind of UPS you got.

It's supposed to be 104 in Austin today. I don't really "feel" for people that complain about weather.

GODDAMN FUCKING WINDOWS THAT OPEN
Remember those? Or parking lots you could navigate without heroic convulutions? Engineers make me think that time cube tard's line about being educated stupid might not be so far from the mark.

Not only do the windows in my building not open, the entire office is one big open floor plan, with the exception of the offices. This means the AC, when it does turn on around 8:00, just ends up cooling random pockets of the building. My office is not one of those pockets. Also, I start at six, so its not like the AC would help anyways. Its been averaging about 28 in my office each morning this month.
Not going to complain though, nicest June/July Vancouver's seen in probably a decade.

Yeah, that is kind of like my office, only this system doesn't pull out humidity fast enough so it's always muggy and shitty in here whenever it is over 70F outside. Last week being 95F resulted in many papers sticking together It could all be fixed by opening a window, but for some reason people that were involved in designing/building/approving this building didn't want windows to be able to be opened.... .

We actually have doors we could open to a couple of balconies. Too bad an ear piercing alarm sounds if you leave em propped open for more than a minute.

Windows that open are more expensive to maintain and cause huge energy loss. Best get over it or go in to development and build your own. Zoned systems are awesome but expensive, guess what clients don't like to do; spend money that decreases ROI. You'll also find you have to put sealed windows in to meet 2012 energy codes anyway. Go on and bitch about energy conservation and the government not doing anything after this conversation. The irony might kill me. Then there's the suicides. Segoris, it's likely tour system isn't working because some genius oversized it so it doesn't run long enough to dehumidify. Or they stuck something wet in the building after the system was designed and it can't make-up for it.

Japanese beetles got to the foliage pretty good this year because I forgot to treat the roots in the spring.
First apple starting to show some red.
Probably have to pull out or expand the fencing next summer, they're almost outgrowing it this year. One is about 8' or so, the one that gets more sun is at least 10'. Still debating whether to prune them to grow horizontal or let them get massively tall. Leaning toward massively tall honeycrisp trees. Because honeycrisp. And I can climb well.

You people and your complaints about heat... It's like 85+ here year-round, with constant high humidity. Cry me a river. (But not in front of my house - I don't need that "lake" to expand any more)

Tell me more of this bank. I'm not even sure I have a linkedin account. I'm still really learning most of it, which makes it difficult now that people assume I know everything. But yes, I want to try to turn this into a real marketable skill, considering that they won't hesitate to fire me if the numbers make sense. And then I'd be stuck because the only thing my company teaches us is how to work for our company.
