The Gif.  Not the game.

I understand the game.  It's like Blernsball, only harder to play.

The guy is trying to jinx the batter. "K" stands for Strike so he's shaking a giant K and pointing at the upcoming batter.

Baseballers are all really superstitious people. If you've ever seen Major League the whole Jobu thing is only partially tongue-in-cheek.

It was, but I figured he got that part and was trying to figure out what was actually happening in the first place.

Both of you are right!

I just really like that the GIF happens to zoom in on that dude at just the right moment.

Yeah, really it's that the dude trying to hex the batter with his shaking K happens to point right after the camera focuses on him. It's like he knew!

It's not my birthday yet, but a cat threw up on my pillow to wake me at 7am. Joy. And it's now official, I'll get 2 days at home before having to head to Maryland to work. I haven't been home since January, so this sucks.
At least in theory I'll have intarwebs there.

If your gonna be in Silver Springs I hope you already booked the hotel.  Going there this week and my normal hotel was booked up.  My poor assistant called 3 times a day trying to get me in; I am a creature of habit.

No Nerf, but I put a link to this very thread and I said that you all can guarantee for my purity. I even mentioned your case, and see if they can take a look at your lawn from a Michigan perspective.

It's weird to me to associate with a team like that. Then again, I'm from Houston. We don't exactly have a history of successful sports franchises.

Yeah.  The Rockets back then were popular and good, too.  Several of their all-time great players came from UH where they were dubbed Phi Slama Jama.

Clyde "the Glide" Drexler was a badass.  And they had Robert Horry (who, incidentally, has 7 championships-  more than Michael, Magic, Koby or Shaq) and Mario Elie, who was a key reserve that hit a lot of big shots in the playoffs.  Olajuwan completely dominated Pat Ewing in the 94 series and then swept Shaq and the Magic the following year.

Rattran, what day is your birthday? Mine is tomorrow!

Strange feeling like a crippled old man but only being 42.

Also in other useless conversation, I am setting aside my pride and starting a GoFundMe because of desperate Medical and Financial issues, and (with the approval of Schild) adding it to Useless Conversation and my Signature.

It was yesterday, I am a non-crippled 42 now. No cat puke occurred, thankfully. And I'll be in Crownsville for the ren fair until October, staying at the booth. It'll be nice to be back in that area, haven't been there in years. I suspect much seafood will be eaten.

Do you take your cats on the road with you?  I'm kind of curious about the life of a Ren Faire worker that goes around the country.  Most of the ones I've talked with are semi-local.

Finally got tired of being tracked down every few months by the missionaries, so got off my ass and submitted for a formal removal of my name from the LDS church records.   This should be fun.

My cats used to travel with me, but one has some health issues so stays home. I'm currently traveling with my gf and her three cats, and will be bringing my semi-feral with me next spring. All the booths I live in are finished with my cats in mind, so lots of window perches with bird feeders outside.

The road trips are quite easy with the cats, they settle down and sleep for the most part. Fair management usually just wants shot records, they're much tougher on dog owners.

I've thought about doing that but my wife doesn't want to rock the boat with our neighbors.

Will they still baptize you after you're dead after that?  Seems like a bad idea, if not.

They shouldn't. That is for people who didn't have the "opportunity" to be baptized in the LDS church. I've had the dunking.  I would be an "apostate" and be in real rough shape down in the Telestial Kingdom which is the lowest level of the afterlife. With me will be murderers and rapists. Yay!  I can be "leveled up" though by members of my family if I repent in the afterlife. Since my ancestors were personally converted by Smith, if he was was right (tee hee) I should be in okay shape in that department.

Pretty much what Ab said.  Anyone who does leave the Church does get the bonus of being judged a bit more harshly since they had the choice to accept the fullness of the gospel as it were and rejected it.

I was holding off a bit since my mother is still a member, but I just can't keep dealing with this.  Thankfully, I don't have the deep cultural or familial ties to the church that could be used to really turn my life upside down.

I've been told in the past part of my family went West with Bringham Young back in the day and that's why the only big segment of my surname is found in Nevada.  I always doubt the validity of it only because nobody with the church has ever tried to track me down.   I understand it was a pretty ugly familial split, though.

If it's one thing the LDS Church does better than pretty much anyone is family records. If you get a wild hair you could easily check all the records for the trains that came over with Brigham and shortly thereafter (most who "came over with Brigham" actually came in the succeeding 5 to 10 years as the original group was fairly small).
