I was asked TOLD to redo all the graphics for the proposal in Excel, instead of Illustrator. 4 Days before the due date. Warning about the impact on format, fidelity, feasibility of using graph software to create complex flowchart imagery that had already been branded and image size increases as they they relate to page count were not heard.

FML.

Someone wants to adjust the numbers in the presentation and doesn't know how to use illustrator.

Yep. And it happens to be the VP. That's only the tip of the iceberg of nonsensical requests from this person. Like making 44 individual word files for each cover/Copy we need to print. Because one number changes..... When I designed it to simply be editable. ( IE: 1 of 8 )

I'd be sorely tempted to export everything you did in Illustrator to page sized image files and just drop the images in to empty Excel sheets. Watch his head explode as he attempts to edit.

I used to try doing flow charts in Excel (before discovering Visio) - I would not subject myself to that again.

As previously mentioned, Excel is for Cunts Accountants.

In unrelated news, Portal 2 arrived and Elena went mental excited and I said 'Cool, this will be good and distract us from all the people playing Diablo 3 while we're not and having all sorts of downloads and connection issues.

Installed and it wants to update.  More specifically, it wants to update 2.5 Gb worth.

Elena now in bed and I'm quietly fuming once again at the unfairness of the awesomeness of digital distribution to those who live in caves.  Gripping Hand, I'm glad I waited to buy Diablo 3.  I may buy it on Friday and leave it updating over the weekend.

 Ohhhhh, I see. Heartbreak

Valve games are *awful* with the updating constantly thing. I swear TF2 downloads 50 GB a month.

Sooo- we found out this morning my 4 year old has pneumonia.  On the day our newborn was supposed to come home.

Wife packed up van and is staying at our aunts house until this passes.

Glad I got Diablo 3!   awesome, for real

No Nerf, but I put a link to this very thread and I said that you all can guarantee for my purity. I even mentioned your case, and see if they can take a look at your lawn from a Michigan perspective.

Quite.  And because they're on Steam, they won't even load in the unpatched state.  You'd think if I was sent a CD, I could, you know, insert that CD and play a game.

Alas for the future and alas for my lost past of loading from a tape on the Amstrad.  Despite the 5-10 minute loading times back then I'm now looking at it fondly.

How old were you when you last had jet lag?

This bad? 26.  awesome, for real

Although, I'm not sure all of this can be just jet lag.  Feeling like crap might be a result of all of the lovely airplane air I was breathing for 17 hours.  All I want to do is sleep.. all the time.  D3 time will require coffee.

Actually, you can't spell accountant without cunt....  acCoUNTantS.

Excel is awesome because you can run numbers through a couple of filters, add a couple columns to calc a few relevant financial ratios, add a reference column to industry/historical averages, and then illustrate to people why their numbers are Shitty and Wrong and No, You Are Not Getting Your Incentive Bonus For Your Fake Numbers Dickhead.

Reminds me off the ads that were playing for the Galaxy note, where it shows all the cool things you can do with the stylus, like grabbing that bar in the Excel chart and making it bigger.

Leaving Scotland today and the weather looks like it did when we arrived. I guess that slop on Sunday was the gods showing me what Scotland is like most of the year so I would get my money's worth.
