Moscato d'Asti is tasty!

Husband's holiday party went well.  Since the bank doesn't believe in doing holiday parties for the employees, we budget during the year and he takes his employees (and guest) out to dinner somewhere.  This year, we went to a really great local place called Cucina Bella and stuffed ourselves on Italian again.

The local butcher shop had rump roast on sale, so I made an overnight crockpot chili. Boy is it good. Now we just need snow instead of rain this week to make it chili weather.

I love that all that technology seemed directed to the making of beer.

On a work-related note, how lovely of Exchange to hang a server if a store corrupts.  Then again, I suppose it's to be expected, with the databases being based on Access and all.   swamp poop

I don't think the going to the DMV should be celebrated.  But Happy Birthday anyway!   awesome, for real

Sadly no, I have to wait two-to-four weeks for my license to show up. :( This is extra annoying because it means everyone at the airport is going to inform me my LICENSE is EXPIRED and then I have to show them my temporary license so they'll shut the fuck up about it.

Ooh, I love the expired license not being valid to identify you. How can they be certain you are still that person, huh?

And Happy Bird-day!

Here's a silly question.  If I register my business as "black owned", who is going to come to me and say "You're not black!" and when I say "Yes I am", what is the accuser going to be able to do to show that I'm not?

Why am I homeless?  Why do all you motherfuckers need homes is the real question.

I'm pretty sure that my taking some time off to stay at home is the cue for people to start drilling into the condo's cement walls and floors.  With as little skill as possible too.  It's always these people who seem unable to just blast in six clean holes, they have to slowly pluse the drill over and over and over.  Fuck you.

Probably the Atlanta Metro Black Chamber of Commerce.

Either that or Jesse Jackson, Tyler Perry, and the entire City of Atlanta government except for that one guy who respresents the Buckhead district.

Are you talking about a MWBE designation? I suspect a birth certificate (that shows race) might be required.

OK, let me turn it around.  I want to hire a person that's not a white male.  Some guy walks in and says "I'm black!" and then I'm saying "My ass!" then he says "Uh-huh!"  Where do we go?

hahahahahahahahahahahhahahaha.

Worse.  I don't have any photos with me but I'll try and remember to upload a few from some jobs tomorrow.   My favorite is still the mall roof from one of the restaurant tenant finishes I did.  It is a piece of galvanized aluminum spanning trusses about 6' with no intermediate supports. The trusses are 2x2 steel triangles spanning about 12'-14'.  The internal rain gutter is a bunch of pvc running horizontally with no hangars or supports.

Meanwhile here's some from the web.

Check out those stairs.

Pretty much this.  Some of those pics aren't Brazilian, some are.  The ATM, for example, you can see has an Arabic sign.

The US has plenty of fails, but they're typically from homeowners doing their own thing and never getting it inspected.  Or they hear Tommy up the street has an xyz place and they don't hear that Tommy only started his own company after he was fired for being a total moron.

My initial bitch was related to folks doing site measurements (surveys) missing huuuuge things like, oh, rooms and counter height changes and walls and saying "It's not a big deal, we're just replacing the finishes."

No, it IS a big deal because there's a significant cost difference between a 2m slab counter top and 4 pieces between 20 and 50cm.  Plus, if I'm supposed to show doors under said counter refit I rather need to know where the damn CMU walls are that they'll be attaching to.  Facepalm

Could just be I'm a Crazy American and things go totally differently there.  We're running in to several frustrations with our satellite office just like this, though.

So I'm pretty sure my Finance person is going to hate me once I turn in this list of invoices for accrual.  Because not only do I have a bunch to accrue for work done during December, I need to include invoices already submitted this month because there is no guarantee they will actually get paid in December.  Makes sense, except some of our projects kept getting pushed out and now I'm up to 30+ line items listed and since she's always going on about how busy she is, I think she'll have a fit about how much work she'll have to do to accrue all this.
