Wait, so you're agreeing that having open holes after surgery is the normal thing?  I coulda swear they had invented stuff to help close those gaping wounds.

Lant had an abscess removed if I remember correctly.  Can't sew up flesh that is missing.

Yeah, with an abscess they will typically leave things open to "drain".  Yummy, eh?   awesome, for real  Once there is no more fluid coming out and the infection is more properly controlled they will sew it up.

This Zeigler's apple cider is quite tasty.

And I think I'll make waffles for dinner tonight.

Yeah when I had my appendix out I had a hole going from my inners to my outers to let the bad stuff out...  It's sort of a weeping wound so it has to go somewhere, outside into the bandage is better than rotting on the inside I guess.  They didn't tell me about it until afterwards and I was pretty creeped out.

Is that hard cider or non-alcoholic?

It's gallon-sized regular apple cider. Got it from Costco, so should be pretty available. Hard cider seems to be of limited availability in this god-forsaken state.

There are some decent national brands.  I like Woodchuck pretty well.  Of course it would have been weird if you had been drinking it at 7:36 AM   awesome, for real

Here's a quick holiday substitute that I make.

Acquire a large (1-2 gallon) glass container with lid.
Cut up in 1" chunks 4-5 Honeycrisp apples, add to container.
Put in 3 cinnamon sticks
Put in teaspoon of whole cloves
Pour in rum (I use Meyer's dark) to cover apple and spice mixture.
Let sit minimum of two weeks. (will keep for up to a year, and you can use apple chunks later as a topping on ice cream flambe)

Heat apple cider on stove. Dont let it get to boiling point.
Pour two cups in tall clear glass dessert coffee mug.
Add two shots of spiced rum.
Top with whipped cream.

Its awesome!

Is it bad karma to feel smug when a sibling chooses to cut you out of their decision making process on something you know about and then their decision comes back to bite them in the ass?

Sister bought new windows for her house last year.  I told her I'd be willing to talk about it with her to help make a decision whenever she wanted but I never got called.  I found out in December she'd chosen a company I'd never heard of to install a band I'd never heard of and was moving ahead because of their guarantees that they'd have lower bills.  Well here it is almost a year later and her usage rate has only gone up every month and now the company's giving her the runaround on their 'guarantee.'   Oops!  why so serious?

We got some great fresh stuff from an onsite orchard store last month- wonderful.

I love hard cider, but wow does it make me hurt the next day.

If it's any consolation, my daughter refuses to ask me for help with her chemistry homework.  She'll even argue with me about it... like, what the hell do I know about chemistry?

The fact that I instantly recognized who it was (and from what) means A)  I am old and B) I have seen it far too many times. But not recently, so there is a plan for the weekend. Well, that and watching Star Wars with my son. He will be 3 in a couple of weeks and has decided he likes Star Wars toys, so now he wants to watch the movies. We have the old unfucked versions on VHS, so we will start with those  Oh ho ho ho. Reallllly?
