Yep.  That's worked for me driving in Arizona for 17 years.   I've never had a covered parking spot at work.

It's really tempting to snipe at the dysfunction fucks who are crying about the unfunded 10-year reunion someone is trying to organize on Facebook because a measly $50 doesn't get them an open bar, while not putting forward a single constructive statement in their painfully poorly-written tirades.

Thankfully, I'll be in the wrong hemisphere if/when this clusterfuck occurs.  Ohhhhh, I see.

Sunday we bought some flowers to plant at her father's grave. On a whim, I grabbed a nice tomato plant and a few basil plants. Didn't have time this morning to put them in the apple cages, so we'll see if our little skinny black cat friend finds its way into the basil today....

Bart is completely ignoring this intruder, it's kind of funny. The orange cat, the grey cat, hissing and spitting and very watchful. The black cat....back to sleep. Given that, I'm almost considering adopting it...

I love sitting in a class where I could teach the material better than the instructor.   This really painful not to interrupt constantly.   At least I can help clarify when someone asks a question.

My favorite technique is to ask leading questions, which hopefully brings the instructor along to the right answer. Or to fall asleep and ace the test.

Hooray Poverty!

My 11' maple in back has died above the top 1/3.  I guess I didn't water it enough last year when we had the drought.  On the positive side it's sprouted new branches down around 3'6 so I think I'm going to train them to wrap around the existing trunk and see how that turns out.

Note to self : schedule that last remaining root canal retreat for similar financial joy.

A score of years ago I started college on an Electrical Engineering track.  The past few days I find myself trying to figure out datacenter-level electrical stuff (loads/wiring/generator permits/etc.), and remembering why that decision only lasted a semester.

I wish, its not so much a chip as it is a circular chunk missing right at the back of the tooth, goes all the way down to the base of it really (I saw a video picture of it) so I can see why they need to redo the whole thing.

Watch for rot. As long as it's not a danger to any structures, it should grow for a long time, even with the entire central trunk rotted out. The maple I took out last year had no central trunk, about 3" thick of the exterior of the trunk left alive, and of that 1/3 the way around was gone (squirrels loved nesting in it). Trees are pretty amazing things.

I don't think pot is even pot anymore.  Now it's pretty much pure THC sprinkled on some kind of leaf.

Well, that's the pot we had. We were ahead of our time. Actually, that's one of the things I really miss about growing pot: genetics! We had a whole system set up between several growers to track genetics and the resulting hybrids. It was funny to see people's reactions at a party, for instance, when we'd ask for all their seed if we liked their pot (our smoking pot was always sinsemilla). Into the genetics experimentation it goes, using three-month cycles to maximize seed production and speed up hybridization.

Anyway. It was very interesting and had very nice benefits :)

The "superstrains" grown in closets under high-powered lights are pretty much that.  Mexican Ditchweed, on the other hand, is still alive and well and at roughly the same THC content as ever (6-ish%).

Yeah it's smack in the middle of the yard so no danger to anything.  I planted it 3 or 4 years ago and it had only just started to get healthy before discovering this year the top had died.  (Lesson learned, don't buy trees from Lowe's just because they're tall.  The Cleveland Pear is doing fine, tho.)    I'm going to cut-off the upper branches tonight and take some wire to try shaping it.  We'll see how it goes.. maybe with pictures!

Finally just got the ambulance bill for my wife's seizure/fall.   I love getting stuck with hefty bill when a stranger calls in an emergency for someone that just collapsed and hit their head.  awesome, for real

This all happened a couple months ago (and was briefly mentioned here). Follow up tests didn't indicate that she needs to be on seizure meds.  They think it was just a combination of medications she was taking, and she has to be more careful when taking medications that lower your seizure threshold.

Good news is that she'll be allowed to drive in a couple weeks. YAY.  Being the only driver with a 2 year old has been a complete pain in the ass.

Yikes, I think my wisdom teeth quad-removal in October was cheaper.  I wasn't even conscious for that.

Yep, I just checked and it was ~$510 after insurance.  Plus $15 for 2 weeks of percocet.   And memories for a lifetime.

Good to hear. I know -- from personal experience -- that the first few weeks after a seizure is stressful and frightening unless there's an obvious cause. (Like "Fell down, banged head"). The doctor's aren't shy at ALL about shoving you into MRI's and CAT scans, quickly and aggressively.

The wait of "Oh god, do I have a brain tumor" is no fun at all.

I opted for a reverse root canal rather than them drilling through an existing crown that might have cracked to get to an abscess. Fuck their money grubbing ways! Freakin' bandits the lot of them (mostly the manufacturers of medical goods).

I should get back to nature, too.  You know, like going to a shop for groceries instead of the computer.  Maybe a condo in the woods that doesn't even have a health club or restaurant attached.  Buy a car with only two cup holders or something. -Signe
