I'm sure you've all heard by now that there's been an arrest in the Jonbenet Ramsey case.  Looks like they got the right guy... what a freaking nutjob.  I have a feeling this trial is going to be a total circus, and he's just going to look guiltier and freakier every passing day.  If convicted, he deserves the harshest punishment allowed by law.  Sick, sick, sick.

Maybe he's such a nutjob that he only thinks it happened.  Who knows?  I wouldn't dream of blaming the parents of the victim but I have to wonder if dressing up your five year old as a sexy Vegas showgirl makes sick people sicker.  Even when I was very gothy, I didn't wear as much make-up as a five year old child beauty pageant contestant.  I can't even imagine dressing up a small child that provocatively during Halloween.  Not that any jury should ever consider that as an excuse... it's just a personal observation of something I consider to be dodgy parenting.

I thought they said he knew things which hadn't been released.  Plus they were tailing him for weeks.  I don't think he confessed and turned himself in, I think they arrested him and then he confessed.

I'm guessing they took away his belt so that he can't kill himself and had to hike up his pants.  And I think the psychic sketch thing is kind of creepy, if it's real.

Edit: I think I've changed my mind already and am leaning more towards the false confession.  One of the officers on the case warned about people that make up stuff like this.  The ex-wife also says he had been studying the Ramsey and another similar case for years.  And finally this is the result of what the guy said in emails to someone who made a documentary.  As soon as the internet touches something it's credibility is reduced by nine tenths.

I'm starting to lean towards the "whack job who falses confesses" thing.  He seems like he wants to confess, but then he starts dodging questions when they get too detailed.  Plus a plethora of other little things I've read about this guy today, sounds like he might be full of phychopathic bullshit.

The DNA test next week will pretty much make it or break it.

Yeah, a confession of a mentally disturbed individual doesn't mean much, and so I'm waiting for the DNA test as well before believing they've really got the right guy. 

His story doesn't hold together very well, wavering from loving her, kidnapping her for a ransom, and strangling her when the kidnapping wasn't working out as he planned, and then her body ended up in the parents basement how?

I never doubted, but figured he was in Thailand to escape arrest.  That he might have been there for looser age restrictions certainly adds another motive.

(Out of fairness for International cultures, a little Wikipedia research shows that about 33% of Thailand prostitutes are thought to be under 18, although most of them more than 15 which is the legal age of consent (but not for sex work, where it's 18).  Apparently all prostitution is illegal in Thailand, but it's weakly enforced.  Perhaps the creepiest thing I've discovered is that there were members of the online nerd community who felt this information was an important wikipedia addition.)

It doesn't strike me as that difficult for a grown man to accidentally break the six year old kid he's molesting.  Although I see your point that the murder would be premeditated because it's mentioned in the ransom note he'd kill her if he didn't get what he'd want and apparently twine was used to strangle her.  If it was "accidental", it'd be more along the lines of, "Golly, I reckoned she could take a little more strangling than that."

However, I'd be surprised if the DNA test really proves this guy is the culprit.  It's much easier to believe her somewhat screwy parents did the deed and have been pulling an OJ Simpson on the justice system since.
