Hey guys...
My wife and I are interested in playing an RPG together...  I'd like to ask your opinions about which RPG would be best for us to play together.  We're interested in a high fantasy setting (no sci-fi, etc).  We'll have two computers with which to play.  What game would allow us to play together, preferably not an MMORPG?  In terms of hardware capabilities of the two computers, one is middle-of-the-road in today's terms and the other is pretty old, but has a radeon 9800 pro, so it's still OK.  1 gig of RAM in each, Athlon 2800 in the oldest.

Thanks in advance for your opinions.

Titans quest comes to mind. Think Diablo 2 with better graphics. Baulders gate is a classic (on second thought I'm not sure 2 can play this). Neverwinter nights has lots of player made content.

I started with nothing, and I still have most of it

I'm not a complete idiot... Some parts are still on backorder.

You can play the Baldur's Gate's co-op. There's also Dungeon Siege 2 (can't remember if 1 allowed co-op). Guild Wars is another possibility. Even though most people consider it an MMO it plays like a small multiplayer game. And there's always Diablo II.

Since you bring up Baldur's Gate, any Infinity Engine game will work, except for Planescape: Torment. The newer games would probably be a bit less painful to work through, what with increased rez and hide-able interfaces...though in your situation, it might be fun to bring 2 characters through the entire BG saga.

Besides the other stuff suggested already, I would have to really dig through my collection (which is still in boxes from February) to find other things.

I've personally played BG 1 and found it to be a pretty sweet game...  But, I think something like NWN would be a good idea.  My wife is totally addicted to Oblivion on the 360, plays it as much as possible...  So, I think a 3D game like NWN might be more up her alley.  Thanks for the input, guys!

NWN is not 3D in the same sense Oblivion is. You don't run around in first person view -- it's the same overhead style view as Baldur's Gate.

I would LOVE a co-op version of Oblivion. I like playing games with my friends, but some times I dont want to deal with a MMOG. I just want a friend or two, vs the computer.

I believe there is a Sci-fi Diablo sort of game coming to Xbox360 pretty soon, but I forget the name.

Yeah, NWN isn't 3D like Oblivion, but its graphics are still 3D, as opposed to the isometric view in Baldurs gate...  She likes the 3D perspective, but can get a little motion sick playing Oblivion (although you wouldn't know it - The girl's a level 27 healer and has played over 120 hours).  That's why I think the more fixed 3D camera perspective that NWN offers might suit her better.

And that new BioWare RPG is called Mass Effect.  Due in April 2007.  Looks pretty sick.

You may get your wish.

It's in really early stages but might shape up someday. Haven't tried it yet so can't comment.

I was drinking when I wrote this, so sue me if it goes astray.

Multiplayer TESIV would be crazy.  Clash of the Overpowered Titans or something.  I'm betting stealth criticals won't work.
