So, having recently moved I'm waiting for my PC to arrive.  I'm using my wife's laptop (a shiny new Dell E1505) and am desperate to get some gaming time.  So desparate that I'm contemplating using the laptop that I deliberately bought without the intention to play games on.

The laptop has integrated graphics controller (Intel 945) and some digging reveals that it might actually run some games.  Would it run NWN or am I dreaming?  What games might it run?  DirectX required games?

NWN may be a bit tricky. While the GMA 950 in theory supports OpenGL, I wouldn't count on the Windows drivers being that robust -- heck even ATI's OpenGL drivers suck (NVIDIA's really the only one with good ones on Windows). The GMA 950 also does not do Transform & Lighting (T&L) in hardware and that can cause problems as well.

World of Warcraft.  Heh, I was able to raid on my work laptop with little problems.

I've played NWN on much worse (ATI IGP 340m on my soon to be 3 year old laptop). The Intel is not a bad card for older or less demanding games. I wouldn't expect to run Doom 3 or Prey or Oblivion on it though.

I was drinking when I wrote this, so sue me if it goes astray.

950 wouldn't run the HoMaMV demo on my mac mini (booted in XP).

I can run the EQ1 demo but not in wide-screen.  The question now becomes: do I want to play it.

If its shiny-new, could you RMA it and get the same with an X1400 for another ~$80?
