Please!!! I want to play!

P.S. Haha sorry I've been away so long....busiest year of my life and in a good way.

So, even though I missed the draft I am pretty happy with how it came out for me.  I think I would have probably taken a hit earlier on a RB to grab Peyton considering that his point output alone won me several games last season but I can't complain about Favre either.  I'll just have to hope his old bones can make it through the season and that his arm still has enough zip left to get it into the end zone.

Other than that I'm pretty solid on my RB/WR corps and I'm happy with my D even though the dolphins traded away Ogunleye (sp?) they still should be very solid.  I really don't see any major holes in my team except maybe in the area of Back-Up RB's if rookie Kevin Jones doesn't pan out (though he looks good on paper and in his limited first preseason game).

Happy that I was able to do most of the rounds manually before I had to run.  I made some moves I liked and a couple boneheaded mistakes, so I probably broke even against letting Yahoo pick them for me.

Anyway, who do you all think looks sharp this year?  Taking a glance through the rosters, the Bandwagon and the Maroons (could we have a worst to first story?) look pretty scary.

Wow. That wasn't a great draft for me.  I got the "Ming Vase" (thanks for that apt description Way) of the NFL, Taylor, and some banged up and unspectacular players. I'm happy getting Manning, Smith and Martin but uggg.   I have a feeling it wouldn't have gone so bad if I would have been there in person, but I guess my rankings weren't really that good either.

I'm going to have to pull off some waiver wire magic or I'm going to be the resident cellar dweller. And yay, Warner is the starter in NY.  Time to break up the Manning twins.

If people stay healthy I can work with this team, but it's looking like a terrible uphill climb.

I think I will probably end up being about as mediocre as I normally am. Vick as QB (please God keep his legs safe), Brady as backup. Rudi Johnson better have a killer year in Cincy or I'm screwed, and Darrell Jackson/Javon Walker WR combo isn't going to light up the night either.

My preseason pick for winner of this league is Arc or Murdoc.

I'm pleased with my team, but could really use a top-tier WR. Taking Gonzalez as early as I did, I sacrificed a stud WR, but I think I'll be happy with the results.

I should at least be competitive this year

Always nice to start the season with a big zero-point explosion from Marcus Pollard.

Dallas Clark had a nice game. TE by committee is a minefield for fantasy owners.

What a great game last night. Wouldn't you know that it would come down to Vanderjagt missing for the first time in more than a year? If Manning doesn't take that sack from McGinest the play before, that is a chip shot FG and we go to OT.

If Edgerrin James doesn't play Fumblestiltskin Visits the Red Zone, the McGinest sack is moot.

Great game, though, totally worth watching. I hope the Sunday games are even half as exciting.

Tell me about it. I have James in my big money league. Not only did he fumble twice, he took himself out of the game at the 10 yard line and let Rhodes score MY touchdown! I was screaming expletives at the TV during that sequence. Gotta love football!

I guess picking up Branch at the last minute was a good move.  Almost 90 yds and a TD ain't too shabby.

Maybe I'm a fool for throwing Emmit to the dogs for a reciever but I just don't see him putting up numbers to outpace any of my other three RB's with starting positions.

Yeah, my team is weak as hell at TE/D/K.  I just can't turn down the RBs and WRs when they bat their eyelashes at me.

Last night was entertaining, but not that great a game I thought.  There should be at least a little defense played at some point in my book.  Then again I like a good 7-0 game better than anything, and would probably favor the removal of the forward pass.

That happened in my league last year as well, although the eventual winner was not an inactive auto-drafter.

This year I stuck with the official rankiungs unless I had a clear reason to second guess it. I also didn't draft any Eagles until the 10th round in an effort to not let my emotional attachments get in the way. Somehow I got Jamal Lewis as the 14th pick in a 16 team league.

I redid my rankings but having pick #10 sucks.

Lost this week, but I did pretty well against a team that scored well over 100 points, so I'm confident I'll make a return visit to the playoffs this season. I dont know if I'll have the opportunity to fall on my face in the superbowl again, but I suppose anything is possible.

Over in the corp league, I ended up getting Jamal Lewis as well, and figured he'd be the centerpiece of my team. I guessed correctly that Quentin Griffin would have a monster game against KC, but made the mistake of starting Lewis instead of Tiki Barber.

Jamal Lewis = 2.9 Points
Tiki Barber = 21.0 points

BTW, I'd suggest that anyone who has Charles Rogers consider dropping or benching him pronto. Early reports say he broke his collarbone again against Chicago.

Bring the noise.

Well, the title defense is not off to the best start.  Barring an absolute explosion by Stephen Davis tonight, we'll be 0-1.  TO's monster start could not overcome Jamal Lewis and Byron Leftwich failing to show up for their respective games.  My boys on the bench would have given me s strong chance to win.  Who would've thought that both Bettis (best stat line in NFL history: 1 yard, 3 TDs) and William Green would rake in more than double the points of Jamal Lewis playing against the Browns?  Taking Leftwich vs BUF over Garcia vs CLE was a bit of a closer call, but I didn't think either would be pulling down over double the points of the other.

On the upside, my recieving corps looks pretty solid, with 4 guys putting up decent or better numbers.  Hopefully there will be something there to make a trade with in future weeks.

My condolances go out to the Nose Pickers, for scoring so many points in a losing effort.   I would also like to place a bounty on Murdoc Bandwagon starters.  How the hell did we let him draft that team?

Garcia vs CLE

Although at times it sure *seemed* like Garcia was playing against Cleveland, he was actually playing against Baltimore.

He had a decent game though....something like 31.25 points for me. I wish I had started Carson Palmer, as he had 33.5 points in a losing effort against the Jets.

If I had made the optimal starting choices, I would have topped 150 points.

Bring the noise.

I'm a couple injuries away from a very mediocre team though.

Yeah, what an opponent to start out against. Isaac Bruce against the Cardinals, Priest Holmes and fucking Culpepper agains the Cowboys. Not to mention I started Rudi Johnson over Tiki Barber and Vick over Tom Brady. I have to remember that Indy's DB's suck.

I just got shitkicked.

I actually had a decent performance and depending on how Smith does tonight I'll be looking even better. Man, if Taylor had busted out I'd actually have a chance at winning. But hell, I ran into a team where everything but one player produced, and with our 1 pt per reception, he still did fine.

I think due to 14 teams being in the league, a lot of people are an injury or two away from pure mediocrity. The benches just aren't very deep.  I'm scrambling to find a set of reserves I can live with. If I don't even place in the league, I'm damn sure I'll win the "most roster moves" award.

I can only hope Favre throws 5 INTs tonight or else there's no way I'm going to make up 10 points on Murg's Maulers. Oh well. 0-1 for me, but overall I hope to be solid this year.

Me vs Arcadian should be pretty close.  Fortunately for me most of my players are up agaisnt weak Defenses (SF, Ari) this week and most of Arcs are playing strong defenses (Min, Car).

Carolina didn't look that tough on defense on Monday.  At least not vs the run.  Although the pack does have a pretty good offensive line, they manhandled the Carolina defensive line all night.

Yeah, I was in a noisy bar when I was watching the game (ladies night, and a few decent looking distractions including one of the few actually HOT lesbian couples I have ever seen making out a few feet from our table) but the fall didn't look that bad at all.

I thought at the time for SURE it was a hamstring pull or something.  It just looked like he overextended trying to get to the sidelines while being tackled.  I was pretty stunned to find out it was a broken leg.  Hopefully it is a clean break that can be healed somewhat quickly and not cause any longterm effects.

Pack lost Grady Jackson as well (dislocated knee).  Who knows how long that will be, but on the defensive line niggling knee injuries can last forever.  It was Gilbert Brown's demise for years (coupled with his gargantuan weight).  Shocked that after Grady went down early that NC could not open up holes in the middle.  The few times they tried they ended up running into middle blitzes.

The Panthers gave up on the run WAY too early. If they can't run, Delhomme is not going to have a good game. They just never seemed to find a good rhythm of play-calling. They'd get a screen pass to work, then they'd throw to incompletions and it's a 3 and out. Unfortunately for me, Walker didn't get too involved in the game, and Muhammed had a good game but not a great one.

Losing Jackson is going to hurt the Pack, but I'm glad to see they still managed to stuff the run enough. The Pack O Line just spanked the Panthers D Line til their asses were red. Favre doesn't have to throw much when Green and Fisher both are pulling off 6 and 7 yard runs with ease.

Panthers are going to be in serious trouble this year without Smith. He's their vertical threat. Muhammed and Proel are good, but Smith makes them better.

A month ago, that was a league with championship potential.....now it's a death sentence. Toss in Anquan Boldin, or Ricky Williams in the early drafts, and they'd lock you up in a small room and take away your shoelaces.

I got lucky in my league....Jamal, Torry, Tiki, Garcia, Crumpler...and I picked up David Terrell, Carson Palmer, and Quentin Griffin in moves after the draft. So far my biggest hit has been losing Dre Bly at DB, but I promptly benched him once I picked up Sean Taylor off waivers on Monday.

Bring the noise.

Brady last year was a really consistant performer for me.  Although, he could be unspectacular enough at times that I started Leftwich in front him depending on the matchup.

It'll be interesting this year if Brady puts up gonzo numbers instead of just doing enough to get the win.
