... for possibly the hardest to find New Wave/Synthpop albums in existance. Let's back peddle a little. About 10-12 years ago, I heard a song called "Will You Be There" in a club in Virginia. It's by a band named Celebrate the Nun. Apparently this band stopped putting out music in 1991 short of a post-Scooter era reunion type thing as Celebrate the None in '05-'06. This new stuff - no good. They've gotten old and useless. The old stuff though is the type of shit new wavers dream of - bubblegummy synthed out tunes about love and loss and other miscellaneous emotional trash. So I go to this music store in Phoenix, Zia, because some guy had traded in about 300 synthpop albums. The first time I went in, I didn't even look for this stuff - 300 isn't a huge number all things considered and almost certainly it wouldn't go back this far. But today I was looking for Cosmicity in the rock/pop section (knowing full well the employees had no clue what they had their hands on). And as I'm going past the Bs and into the Cs, my eyes catch the word "Celebrate." And there they were. Four of the hardest to find CDs in the history of electronic/tacky synth music. Celebrate the Nun//Continuous//1991//Metronome Musik GmbH//$5.99 Celebrate the Nun//Meanwhile//1989//Westside Music//$5.99 Celebrate the Nun//She's a Secretary//1989//Westside Music//$5.99 Celebrate the Nun//You Make Me Wonder//1991//Metronome Musik GmbH//$2.99 The germans in the crowd might be able to appreciate this. Some of the others might also. But it's the sort of scenario that only happens in dreams. I told the emo/gothtard lady at the counter she could charge me $200 if she wanted and that I'd gladly pay. And having spent $24 and change, I felt like I'd just robbed a bank.

That's how I felt when I found an original pressing of Roxanne by UTFO and some German breakbeat albums for 10c each at a yard sale once. 10c! And they even had step-by-step breakdancing instructions on the sleeve. I've been wanting to make t-shirts out of them for years, but while I am full of excellent ideas I am woefully too lazy to implement them.

Most of the stuff I can't find is from local bands from the 80's/early 90's. My tastes are usually not very popular, but I rarely have a problem with GEMM....Or even Amazon at times (even the rarest of shit gets reissued on CD these days).

One day I might have to break down and buy this. That's another album I've been searching for for way too long. But I always prefer to comb through a music store as opposed to just ordering it.

Grats on your find, Schild. Not quite as cool a find, but I did find a ancient and rare 1970s recording of AC/DC on Piratebay waaay back in the day. Oh, and finding an 80s Spanish punk band "Los Toreros Muertos" (the dead bullfighters) in a bin in a backwoods Tennessee WalMart was a total mind-fuck too. How the hell did that get there?!

I should get back to nature, too. You know, like going to a shop for groceries instead of the computer. Maybe a condo in the woods that doesn't even have a health club or restaurant attached. Buy a car with only two cup holders or something. -Signe

hrm. I just tok a look at it's copyrighted from 1984. Any lawyers here know a thing about that? I think copyrights last like 17 years if they're not renewed or something.
Fine, so I can't submit it to Threadless. Go to it, my Swedish friend.

You called me Swedish, so I'm just leaving in a huff instead.
The Copyright is more like 70 years, but do a Andy Warhol number on it and it's perfectly legal.
