Just so you know, Ultimate Frisbee is a very large staple of ROTC PT sessions. They play that shit ALOT.
That's because officers are pussies. Now an enlisted man's game would be combat soccer. Two nets, two teams, no rules. That shit is fun.

Don't know what Old Firm is, but in combat soccer when I say no rules, I mean no rules. Wanna grab the ball and run it in? Fine. Tackling? Clotheslining someone? Rabbit punches? All kosher. We've had many, many injuries due to that glorious game.

We had a battalion combat soccer match. We used 3 five-ton trucks to haul the casualties to the hospital. We wore boots, utilities and flak jackets. My favorite part was when the Charlie company LT's decided that they wanted to play. I organized the NCO wolfpack that removed them from the game. The Battalion CO had to order the officers not to play after that. I think Charlie company had their own 5 ton.

Remember how with Fight Club there was always the kid in the quad playing ultimate frisbee who insisted you didn't understand the movie on as many levels as he did? What makes me sigh is that yes, there was someone I went to college with who had that exact attitude about Fight Club. Sans frisbee, but same sort of character you're getting at.

Reactions from Comic-Con preview: Based on early reaction at Comic-Con, Raimi has nothing to worry about. He delivered what fans wanted: Venom.
"It was way better than I expected because you got to see Venom. He looked awesome," said John McCracken, 22.
"He made the entire world happy by putting Venom in it," said Nora McGuirk, 26, manager of Beach Ball Comics in Anaheim, Calif. "Sam Raimi hasn't disappointed us yet."
Semi-spoiler alert: Actor Bruce Campbell, a Raimi-film regular, also makes an appearance in "Spider-Man 3," the director said. He'll play a new character, who fans believe will be the villain Mysterio.Linky.

Shut UP, you cockslappers and for fuck's sake John, move out of your parents and lose some fucking weight, you fat shit. Nora is a girls name. What the fuck is a woman doing worshipping Venom ? I thought women were meant to have more fucking sense and mature faster than blokes ? Sure, it'll be a great film, but for fucks sake, STOP SLOBBING OVER VENOM.

"Venom should be in... " "They should have used Venom.." "It was OK, but I want to see Venom next time."
Random quotes I heard walking out of Spiderman 2. Yes, folks, you'll get your fucking Venom and I hope you choke on it or he dies like a bitch. Oh how I'll laugh.

I didn't like the Power Ranger Goblin suit. Wilem Defoe rocks though. The kid who plays Harry is a good actor....Maybe he can pull it off....If and when they ever make it to that point.
I like the idea of Venom, but I don't actually like Venom himself.
And by that I mean, I'm a big fan of the typical werewolf archetype (it's why I like the Hulk). Problem is, in this case, the werewolf suit sucks....So to speak.
If Raimi just focuses more on Eddie Brock though, it could be good.

Damn kids. In my day, all we got were *goblins and we liked it. The other choices were guys with no super powers (Kraven) or guys with barely any super powers (Vulture). I mean, Vulture was a little old man! Well.... at least it's not Paste Pot Pete.....

That was the whole point of Spidey in the old days. He wasn't a total badass like Thor or Iron Man. He was more Captain America. That's what made it funny when he teamed up with the FF, he was so completely out of his league. Venom!

What he said. Also, because raimi 'gets' Spiderman, it probably doesn't matter which or how many super-villians are in Spiderman 3 anyhow. Because the actual villian that matters is teh angst. I foresee a film where Spiderman gets the suit, starts kicking ass, the kicking of ass goes too far, this pisses off MJ and Harry/Goblin draws attention to all-new-extra-violent-spiderman, Peter starts to rely on the suit too much, suit indirectly puts world at large + MJ in danger, Peter has to battle the suit in order to save world. Sandman is a backdrop to all the danger and whatnot - but ultimately secondary to teh Parker-angst. Brock picks up suit 16 seconds before closing credits.

Fact is, most people like Venom.
He's my younger brother's favorite character.

Fact is, most people who got into comics in the early to middle 90's like Venom. Fixed that for you. Venom was great when he didn't speak and was just some black suit symbiote. All that other shit that got added was ultraviolent clownshoes thanks to Todd McFarlane.

Just so you know, at Comicon, Raimi confirmed that Venom would be a villian in the film (with peter actually fighting him), and that they pretty much tie up all the story stuff they have set up. So I'm thinking its not going to be "Oh noes! Eddie Brock is Venom now" then fade to black ending.

It's great to see some comic franchizes maintaining their stride on the screen (superman, batman, x-men, spiderman). It bolds well for more efforts in future.
Look forward to this flick. And ya Toby is perfect casting in his role as Peter Parker.
