Why oh why did I suggest Horde on Aerie Peak? I'm literally developing a tick. I'm up to my fucking eyeballs with the Horde. It's all I've ever really seen of this game. And worst of all, I feel guilty for not enjoying it....

I hate the Horde. More than even Night Elves. YES. More. Motherfucking hunchbacked, wasteland wandering, quillboar whacking, hard on the eyes, frustrating waste of time.

Probably would have had a decent time in this game long ago if I had two things: 1) A cool group like you guys to play with. 2) BUT....On the Alliance side.

Note: This is just my utterly delirious, 4:00 AM way of saying I'm rolling "a" Alliance character on Aerie Peak. Don't read too much into it.

Horde will have Bat Country, but I'll consider making a charter for Alliance too. Then there'll be a choice. Maybe both will win out. Maybe none. All I know is I'm going to try to experience WoW in a way that best works for me.

The game does feel 'different' if you play the other side once or twice, though. New quests and newbie zones you haven't seen before unless you made an effort to go there.  However, you have to enjoy the basic mechanics first, which I believe was your problem, Schild.

The basic mechanics, for me (can't speak for Schild, of course), are something I've come to accept and have gotten used to over the years. It's the same as just about every other MMORPG.

With one caveat: It's only really worth accepting and getting used to when there's friends around. Socializing covers a multitude of sins.

This would apply to Alliance or Horde side.

The reason why I'd rather play Alliance though is that the zones are better. Simple as that. Well, that, and that some of the quests seem more interesting on the conceptual level. Human rogues get cool little storyarcs involving SI:7, while my Troll gets mostly jack, shit, and quillboars.

I was kidding, it was a running gag while you were gone. I never got a paladin to 60. I never played past day 28 of my "free" $90 month. In fact, the mechanics are exactly the reason I left. I can deal with purple triangle graphics. I can deal with a half-assed loot system. I can deal with brainless crafting.

But Diku-Based advancement?

No, I don't think she's alone. Flood, Velorath, Righ and Cheddar (and soon Ched's real life friends?) are playing there. The other server thing was an idea tossed about because a PvE server would attract more people. Maybe even Signe.

As for me, PvE and PvP isn't much of an issue. PvP would be ideal, I guess, but I can play either one. I'm just whining about playing the Horde. It's always been the main perspective from which I've played the game, and I've had enough of it. I don't hold WoW in the highest regard to begin with, but imho, playing Alliance will at least breath some new life into it for me. It might be the other way around for other people though, and I could understand that.

I have characters on PvE, PvP, RP-PvE, RP-PvP servers, both Horde and Alliance. I can delete characters to make spots for characters on other servers, as I've done this week on three servers (Emerald Dream (Horde), Lethon (Alliance), Aerie Peak (Horde & Alliance)). However, it would be good if we settled somewhere, becuase it gets old restarting after a while.

But if we're going somewhere other than ED or AP Horde, somebody else can create the guild.

OK, I've got a few ideas...

1) The good thing about the PvE servers is that we aren't restricted. I could make an Alliance charter on Aerie Peak if/when the time is right.

2) There's another fairly new server (Thrall), not as packed in the newb lands (been out a couple of weeks). Alliance chars could go there.

3) The new Lethon PvP server

4) Cenarion Circle old school RP server

5) WAIT for a new RP (PvE) server. Heh

If all else fails, I might come full circle and roll on the server I first saved names on when the game came out. Stormreaver. Not exactly ideal, since it's an established PvP server, but I have a RL friend who dabbles off and on there when he doesn't want to play Horde. Anyone would be welcome to join me if it came to this.

Indeed.. and it's happened in about every other game, too.  We all have friends/ family who we want to play with as well but who take priority over a group of crotchety casuals such as found here.  The single server for everyone model is probably the only reason F13 eve group even got off the ground, much less is doing as well as it is.

I'll probably stick with my Hunter on ED for now.  Never really checked out a lot of the lv. 50 and up content (have a Human rogue in his 50's on PVE server Uther also), so it's more appealing to me than going through the low level content again.  I'll be more inclined to focus on playing a new character once the expansion comes out so I can check out the new starting areas.
