So, I've beaten New Mario, unlocked everything in Mario Kart, I need the next game.  I'm leaning towards Mario and Luigi RPG.

And another thing:  what's up with Gameboy Advance games?  Wal-Mart had like 20 copies of Little Mermaid and 12 copies of CATZ, what appeared to be a Nintendogs ripoff.  I don't think Gamestop or EB games carries Gameboy games.  I could be wrong.  I've never looked.

Catz significantly predates Nintendogs; it (along with Dogz) were early PC 'virtual pet' games. If anything, Nintendogs is a very advanced 'ripoff' of Dogz.

My local EB carries a few new GBA games and a whole slew of used ones. They will not hesitate to remind you about the used rack. Ever.

Thanks for the clarification on Catz.  I know it will come in handy someday!  Now tell me what to buy asshole.  I have all this disposable income and nary a spot of free will to contemplate how to spend it.

You should import Guru Guru Nagetto. A 2D sidescrolling minigolf game.

Well, most of the good DS games are impossible to find now.

No, I'm not kidding.

You can buy a copy of Yoru's Eternal Goodwill. I'll just forward you my address and you can send a check for however much disposable income you have.  :-D

I only own 2 DS games so far myself; Phoenix Wright and Advance Wars DS. Both are solid, if you like adventure/text games and turn based tactics games.

Good luck finding a copy of Phoenix Wright though.

When I was looking for Touched!, I had to go through 4 GameStops for it.

Also, another vote in favor of Advance Wars.

I think it's a perfectly valid concern. Given my recent game buying experiences, I think EB's business model is no longer to actually sell games, but merely to provide an outlet at which movie-license titles can be displayed before a bemused public. Oh, and occasionally vend a strategy guide or two to some hapless soccer mom with a squealing toddler in tow.

EB and Gamestop's model is based on selling used games instead of new games. They are doing nothing but hurting the industry.

And selling copies of Madden.

I enjoyed Age of Empires and Battles: Prince of Persia more. Advance Wars felt exactly the same as the others - which might be why I liked the mildly changed Field Commander (on the PSP) so much.

Field Commander is Advance Wars without SOUL.

I never qualified Advance Wars as a game worth buying because of the SOUL. The writing isn't that good. It's early nineties super nes quality writing. I played it for the tactics and it's worth it for the tactics and so is Field Commander.

The best tactics game ever is Fire Emblem.  Granted, I haven't played any other tactics game since Ogre Battle for SNES, but I can't imagine anything being better than Fire Emblem on GC.  I thought the writing was phenomenal, I really liked how if a dude dies he's really dead, and I appreciated the inter-kingdom warfare storyline, with the overhead map showing troop movements and such.  The fact that you had to manage your company's finances and equipment was icing.

You haven't played enough tactics titles. Disgaea is so superior to Fire Emblem that I don't even have a good comparison. Or maybe I do. It's like filet mignon and a Big Mac. Disgaea is the filet mignon. No, I'm not kidding.

There's a thought. A Disgaea-alike for the DS. Tell your 'homies' at Atlus to get on it, keke?

Are you shitting me asshole?  I know you like to make some nutcakey claims from time to time.  If you fuck me here I swear vengeance on your entire family.  I'm still pissed about NeverWinter Nights Platinum Edition and Fire Emblem is my version of the Great White Hope.

Hey, duse, get a PS2. If you like turnbased tactics, and don't have a PS2 you're wasting your time.

I'd feel too ashamed to buy one at this point.  Honestly, I'm just going to forget this conversation, put it in the furthest recesses of my mind, and pretend like it never happened.  It's a beautiful universe where Fire Emblem is the best tactics game ever.

If this is a laughing contest, you win.  Laughing contests were sweet, though they always paled in comparison to a good staring contest.

I just read through this latest wackyness.  Buy a PS2.  Maybe even wait until November-ish when there will probably be a price drop.  In any case, not having a PS2 is like not having a microwave: you can still cook a pot pie, but you are totally missing out.  Aside from Disgaea, there are a few other such games of that type, PLUS Culdcept and Romance of the Three Kingdoms if you are really out to have some fun.  I guess you can continue living under a bridge and muttering about people and their fancy houses if you want.  I won't stop you.

Why am I homeless?  Why do all you motherfuckers need homes is the real question.

I just got Lost in Blue yesterday; it's awesome if you're into RPG/adventure/management type games (think, uh... closest approximation I can think of is Harvest Moon, but with more starving and less suplexing chickens).

I encourage you to pick a copy up... if you can find one. Locating a copy is almost as much of an adventure as playing.

The real question is whether Disgaea is better than FFT.

If you want another tactics game for your DS, try to hunt down the GBA game Zone of the Enders: Fist of Mars.  Somewhat Front Mission-esque, with less shitty load times.

I wouldn't call it a contest between Disgaea and FFT. FFT is a classic game for sure, but today, now that Disgaea exists well, I simply have no reason to recommend FFT over it. Ever.
