wants a greif tittle

http://ps2.gamespy.com/playstation-2/grand-theft-auto-san-andreas/523232p1.html

Yes, gamespy has posted a little teaser on GTA:SA, they have posted a little new info, and a LOT of speculation. Some of it downright rediculous.

Quote
GTA: SA takes place in the fictional state of San Andreas which is loosely based on California. The game is set in the early '90s and sees you assume the role of reformed gangster Carl Johnson.

1990's Flava: As already stated, San Andreas takes place in the early '90s. This time period will influence everything from clothes, cars, decorations, and even tattoos, not to mention the kinds of bicycles people pedal around the 'hood.

GTA: Boys in the Hood. Hummm.. not exactually what I was hoping for...

Quote
Los Santos: Populated by the rich and famous, as well as the down-and-out, Los Santos is Rockstar North's interpretation of modern-day Los Angeles. Movie stars and millionaire rich kids strut their stuff in expensive rides, while the less-savory individuals hang out in their ghetto homesteads, peddling death and destruction. CJ's home, family, and former gang resides in Los Santos, and its here that GTA: San Andreas kicks off for real.

San Fierro: Sources indicate that CJ will travel to the city of San Fierro after spending the first part of the game in his home city of Los Santos. San Fierro is based on San Francisco, so it's safe to assume that CJ might be in for a little bad weather. Look for a tight knit cityscape, and smaller, more foreboding suburbs.

Las Venturas: Just like our own loveable sin city Las Vegas, GTA: San Andreas' third main city is Las Venturas. A place where any fool with a few bucks can get rich gambling in the casinos, or a place where the rich and famous can go bust in the course of one evening, Las Venturas has something for everyone. It's also the third and final stop that we know of where CJ will get in on some action.

Nice spread of cities. I cant wait to try out the Vegas knockoff. But I guess this blows the rumor of GTA4: Sin City away.

Quote
Size: Rockstar's Dan Houser has been quoted as saying that San Andreas will end up being approximately four, five, or even six times bigger that the entirety of the previous entries in the series. That's pretty big. This then leads to the question -- will the PlayStation 2 game be shipped on more than one disc? One particular website spoke of a quote from the UK's Official PlayStation 2 Magazine, where it was stated that SA would ship on a dual-layered DVD to accommodate the huge size of the three cities. Nothing official from Rockstar has been mentioned at this stage, however.

Sweet, bigger is better. More GTA is a good thing.

Quote
Getting Around: In addition to the plethora of vehicles and modes of transport, it's known that SA will sport push-bikes (being ridden in the screenshots by CJ) -- and in fact, the UK print article states that a BMX is your first method of transport when escaping a dodgy rival gang's 'hood. Pounding the X button will make CJ pedal his ass outta there. We're hoping there's a little room for busting out crazy moves -- imaging gunning down punks while pulling off a nice cherry-picker on your chrome BMX? That's class.

Thats not class, thats stupid. Just because Tony Hawk ripped off some of GTA's features, dont mean GTA has to do the same thing. It didnt make THUG a better game, and wont make GTA.

Quote
CJ will have a stamina meter which will indirectly allow the player to let CJ put on weight or lose weight depending on his actions. Eat too many burgers, and you might be a little slower on your feet than before, but maybe you'll be able to dish out more severe punches and kicks instead.

Undecided what I feel about this. Guess we will ahve to wait and see how it is implemented.

Quote
Gang warfare will only make up around 15 percent of the game in SA, but it's certainly a nice chunk of gameplay. CJ and the OGF will find themselves in a turf war with rival gangs. You'll be able to take over entire 'hoods and territories, extorting money and exuding power as you go. This is where the scary-ass drive-bys and other methods of street violence really come into play.

I was hoping for a bit more of a mobster style ala GTA3, but hey, I didnt think they would pull off Vice City in the 80's Miami style ether. I think it should be a fun game no matter what, just please, PLEASE dont be like that abortion of a game "True Crime" and make me listen to rap the whole time.

I wanted to play as an Italian badass. Not some unsophisticated, uncultivated--well, you get the idea.

So long as I get to fire my pistols on their sides, gangster style, I can somehow overlook everything morally wrong with most of the games Rockstar makes.

I doubt RockStar will give up their trackrecord of making two of the best damned game soundtracks. GTA3 and VC both had awesome music in them. I don't think San Andreas will be any different. Plus, it's 90's rap! IT'S HAMMER TIME!

If I have to listen to that shitty excuse for music (retards attempting poetry), it'll make me throw up.

I imagine there will be a fair amount of grunge on the rock stations - Soundgarden, Nirvana, Pearl Jam - Maybe some late 80's GnR or Metallica as well...

If so, that along with the usual funny as hell talk stations and I'll be set.

O.k. I'll bite: I dunno, why not?

Do I buy it for the PS2, or wait for the X-Box....

And put 911 is a Joke on the soundtrack.

Or, possibly, save it as a special soundtrack for the Ambulance missions(assuming there are any...)

GTA on a bike, pulling off tricks? Thug life, yo?

I really hope it's still too early for them to fuck up the formula, I liked the last two.

Peecee!

I am obliged to voice my utter dislike of the PS2 for exclusivity deals that hurt gamers and for crappy technology that is holding us back, the classic example of the LCD.

I read in GI the game will be awesome, but I'd still rather play as a sophisticated Italian badass.

Hmm, will I get to play SNOOP DOGG as an avatar?

I'm sure it'll be fun, but after reading the quotes from the Rockstar guy, I don't ever want to hear them talk again. Lock them in a closet developing games, but don't ever let them grant interviews. They sould like morons.

I'm not, in fact, an American. So my geography might be way out.

But I always thought Las Vegas was, in fact, in a state that is entirely not California?

Or have they moved it?

I realise this isn't espeicially relevant to the game being fun or not.

Correct. Vegas is not in California.

Will the game be fun? I wasn't a huge fan of GTA III or VC. Many, many people were. I tried it on 3 systems, never got the appeal. Maybe I'm just a little too thug in real life to enjoy it in a game.

Word up.

Edit: Punctuation. Feh.

It's still in Nevada.  Minor technicality.  It probably sounds better than having the character drive to an Indian reservation to go gamble.

B-b-b-b-b-but you could then kill the indians. I'd love to see the ridiculous lawsuit that would come out of that.

It only takes a couple of hours to drive from L.A. to the City of Lost Wages.  It takes longer to go from L.A. to S.F..  Why worry over political boundaries when you can probably find that blackjack dealer that kept dealing you those shitty cards last time you were at the Bellagio and club him to death with a police baton?

How was Vercetti sophisticated at all? Seriously, you seem to be so disgusted at having to play as a black thug, that you forget that Tommy was just a white thug.
