Asgeir Jon Asgeirsson, lead concept artist for CCP, has been putting the final concepts for the new Battleships and Battlecruisers that are coming in Kali part 1 in September. Just today he uploaded the new Gallente Battlecruiser.

Personally, I need new pants after seeing the new Gallente Battlecruiser. Minbari for the wins!

8 turrets on a Caldari BS? Awesome. I can junk the apoc when that happens. It'll probably have a better tank too.

As for the avatar..  :mrgreen:  It's several episodes old by now, but I still haven't seen another ep that's freaked me out remotely as much as #4. The absolute stillness in that one scene is chilling. Ep 8's looking like it might be pretty good, too.

You mind clarifying this, Darn? The ship I think that new Gallente BC resembles most is the Minbari cruiser from Babylon 5.

They do TOO! No wonder your ship is so slow, you don't even acknowledge your crew exists! Watch out for a mutiny..

Crews exist... sort of. They were in the initial alpha builds (as a stat at least), but various design concerns cropped up concerning crew management and crew supply out in 0.0, and so in the end crew was moved into the "background"; anything bigger than a frigate IS crewed, but it's all handled automatically.

I dunno, outside of the Battleships I always enjoyed the Minnie aesthetic.  Seemed more 'real' to me.  One of the reasons I stayed in BCs so long is I can't stand the look of either of the Minnie BSes. (and really cant stand the larger ships.)

This however sure makes me want to hope into one.

There's some details in the devblogs and they told us a few things at E3; nothing you can't find in the devblogs though. Short form, tier 2 (higher skill requirement) battlecruisers, tier 3 (skill 3 required) battleships in the September update.

As was mentioned above, the tier 3 (not t2) Caldari BS is confirmed to be a railboat, and either the Amarr BC or BS is rumored to be a drone ship.  The latter would make me a very happy pilot.

Screw this. Caldari are missile whores and should stay like that. It's a stupid idea to give a missile race a better rail sniping platform than the native railgun race.

Actually, they're the hybrid gun race. Both blasters and rails are hybrid guns. Blasters however have a really limited use in PVP. The only usable thing is closerange engagement, i.e. around the drop out location at a warp bubble or something like that.

It's not really what the ships look like as much as it is the creative thinking behind those drawings (and in part how those drawings are styled). What actually made the foreground of the movie screens were ships that went through a similar sort of transition that cars would from a mid-80s Auto Show to the showroom. But the creativity behind them, as seen in the concept sketches, shows a care for a lot of stuff beyond just what looks cool. Babylon 5 would apply too, as would Trek to some degree, but I really felt that SW, with it's most diverse universe of species, generate a similarity diversity of ship styles. Eve captures this better than any other spacey-like game I've played, and these concepts extends that.

If we (gallente) get two missile boats (bc & bs), im gonna buy a bazooka and a ticket to Island to see how CCP likes 'em rockets.

Other than that, the BC reminds me of a Catalyst, only vertical. While cool, still nothing we haven't seen :)

My votes are the Amarr BC and the Min MS. Both very cool looking. Tempting to train the odd level of Amarr now to work my way up!
