Anyone ever heard of Minions of Mirth? It's a EQlive clone (graphic-wise too) but with a twist. You can play offline as much as you want, as in a single player EverQuest but strongly story-driven, completely for free. Including 3 different factions (one being the Monsters) and 2 separate storylines. Then, if you want to pay, you just buy an account for 24$ and you can transfer your single-played and leveled character to the multiplayer Master (there is a multiplayer free server too, but with less features) server. No idea how can something like that work at all, maybe roleplayers aren't that interested in cheating (there is no PvP as of now), but what's interesting is that the 5 reviews I read so far are quite positive. Gamerankings' collection of reviews, scoring an average rating of 81%Another interesting ferature of the "Premium account" is that you get something like a "free emulator", to run your perfectly legal server of MoM and invite your friends to play on it, with all the tools needed to tweak and refine drops, camps, etc. This comes from a 2-men (actually a man and a woman) company.

The Search Function is your friend. We've had a couple/few threads about MoM and discussing MoM in comparison to other stuff.

No Nerf, but I put a link to this very thread and I said that you all can guarantee for my purity. I even mentioned your case, and see if they can take a look at your lawn from a Michigan perspective.

I never bothered with this game when we talked about it the first time around because, quite frankly, it looked like ass. Sooo... I just downloaded it, (very small) and made an ugly little, barely customisable dorf. I went into the single player game and talked to some NPC who told me to go upstairs and get something. Okie dokie... intro quest, I assume. On my way up the stairs, I killed a brown recluse spider. The loot window comes up and, being a n00b, I click on some spider pincers which seem to get stuck on my cursor, preventing me from doing much. In error, I bring up a macro box which I can't get rid of, 2 chat boxes I don't need or want, and various other windows I can't even identify. This is starting to piss me off. So I start mashing my keyboard with my contact lens case, as one does in this sort of situation, and I find the most amazing feature. Although I'm not even on the top floor of this building, I can jump right through the roof and into the sky! If I keep mashing, I can stay there, too.
Wowsers! I say we get an F13 server going! We can use it as a chat/cyb0r room since we don't have anything else yet. I think Falconeer should be in charge. I like the cut of his jib.

I tried it way back when and had much the same experience as Signe.
It is a fun thing to try if you have an extra hour and want to just say you tried it though.

I'm offically naming this the "Signe Test", and am going to dictate internally to those that listen to me here at GG (not many!) that it is required for all point and final releases.

Holy shit! A dev cracks a joke! Lets read between the lines and assume what he really means. You think I'm joking....I'm not! Randomized tests like that are actually pretty damned important--you never know what users are going to do. Certification for the XBox360 for example has specific use cases like: --Properly and cleanly handle the user simultaneously removing the battery from wirless controller A and extracts the memory card. -- ...the user pulling the power plug while downloading the demo of your game. Etc., etc.

Well, to be perfectly honest... I don't know about you lot, but I just cannot play a game with thingies stuck to the end of my cursor.

I know! I don't understand how all those people were coping. Shaking your mouse doesn't seem to do a thing, either. Anyway, I ditched the game. I don't know why I play games. They make me frustrated! That silly Rectum Redgum whatever pissed me off, too. I think that's the one that gives you a choice of gender... Unknown, Male, or FeMAIL. Sheesh.

Is FeMAIL anything like chainmail made out of iron? Maybe it is a gender for golems?

What I liked more about this game than the ability to play offline was the fact that you can control a whole party of characters. Unfortunately it was so poorly implemented at least back when I tried the game as to be a complete joke.
