What I know about implants you could write on the back of a stamp, which is less than ideal because I'm thinking about a set to support already-trained advanced learning skills ... after a bit of a read-around this morning my knowledge stands at;

  • getting podkilled will cause me to lose all installed implants
  • removing an installed implant destroys it
  • limited to one implant installed per slot / stat
  • they require the cybernetics skill.

I'm equipping a low-risk character, and I know that anything bigger than +2 implants will be too expensive for me right now.   Leaning towards a set of +2 INT/MEM/PER/WILL at the moment - provided I can find them at a decent price.

Have I missed anything obvious?

How much isk is that? Maybe I should invest in some implants instead of a bigger ship.

I think I might invest in some beefy INT and MEM implants to help the learning skill grind move along.

A good idea is a good idea forever.

I've heard it mentioned a few times that you can get a jump clone somewhere in empire space, stick all your implants into him, and then just jump out (to a more expendable clone) when you want to leave the safety of the station without risking your implants.  Then you just jump back when you're done.  Does this work?

You need 8 standing with the station owner to use the jump clone, I think. I don't have infomorph psychology so I haven't tried.

Your corporation needs the 8 standing and that's even harder.

When she crossed over, she was just a ship. But when she came back... she was bullshit!

The biggest source of income for ISS is basically letting people have high enough standing to set up Jump-Clones from their stations.  Once you have one station where you can jump to, you can get jumpable clones basically anywhere you want them.

Implants: The price has come *way* down after a spike, both caused by jumpclones.  People bought a lot more implants for a while because they weren't as worried about losing them, now they're losing fewer because they use implant-free clones when at war or in 0.0.

ISS will (as long as youre not on their KOS list) give you +8 standings (so you can install Jump clones at their stations) for 25mil per corp. There are several empire mission runner corps that offer a jump clone service (no iea on prices) as long as you have no standing with the corp they run for (if you do you bring down the corp standing average and screw the whole thing up) - Obviously ISS doesnt care about your NPC corp standings....

Each jump clone is 100k thereafter but you can only have one installed at each station so you need to relocate your first before you can purchased your second (each level of infomorph gives +1 clone and you can only do 1 clone jump per 24 hours - and must stop any training when you jump)

A full set of +1 'plants will cost ~5mil and +2's ~60mil (escrow seems to be more expensive than market in my limited experience of purchasing 'plants with a set of +1's ~8-10mil and +2's ~80mil)

How does training work in that case? If you switch to a clone sans implants, are your training times automagically adjusted?

nope you have stop training
then jump clone
then start training again
plus since it's every you can only jump every 24 hours it means that you can't rat, do stuff with the corp
jump clone before bed to train at max stats.

but it is good for long term training

The only implants worth talking about are those of the penile variety.
