Turbine Announces Beta Program for The Lord of the Rings Online(TM): Shadows of Angmar(TM)
Wednesday May 10, 8:01 am ET
Players have an Opportunity to Win Coveted Beta Slots at E3 2006

WESTWOOD, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--May 10, 2006--Turbine, Inc. has officially started taking Beta player registrations for the highly-anticipated The Lord of the Rings Online(TM): Shadows of Angmar(TM), the first and only massively multiplayer online role-playing game (MMORPG) based on the literary works of J.R.R. Tolkien. To sign up for their chance to be selected for The Lord of the Rings Online(TM) Beta, players should head to http://beta.turbine.com/signup. The Beta Program will launch later this summer

"If you have ever read the books or seen the movies, you have wanted to be a part of Tolkien's epic adventure," said Jeffrey Anderson, president and CEO of Turbine, Inc. "Players everywhere will finally get the chance with this MMORPG; we are excited about bringing players into Middle-earth."

The Lord of the Rings Online will be showcased at the upcoming Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3), the world's biggest trade event exclusively dedicated to showcasing the best in interactive entertainment and software, where players can play as one of four characters in the game as they are sent by a Ranger to reclaim Weathertop from a party of Orcs. Players who complete the mission successfully will win a slot into the Beta.

The Lord of the Rings Online: Shadows of Angmar allows players to explore the most famous fantasy world of all time, fight the evil minions of the Dark Lord Sauron, and advance their heroes by adventuring through the vast reaches of Middle-earth(TM). Fans of The Lord of the Rings are also encouraged to register for the Beta at the official web site, www.thelordoftheringsonline.com.

The LOTRO forums are being wiped today so the beta link isn't working for me as yet.

The site is live!

Oh and, for the guild section of the signup process, if you all want to enter "f13.net" as the guild name that's perfectly fine. Just make sure you all enter it exactly the same.

I really hate it when they ask you to paste your dxdiag or other crap like that.  Means I have to wait until I get home to apply.  undecided

You don't have to post your dxdiag, it's optional.

And you could answer "don't know" to all the questions about your computer - the ones I have to keep looking up - I have a mental block about specs for some reason, whether it's computers, cars, stereos.

It's too late for me to put in f13.net :(

You can edit your beta information. Just click the Beta Application button on the forums and there will be an option to edit your Beta info.

And yes, the dxdiag info is optional.

Are we going to try to go in together as "f13.net" or "F13.net" or "Bat Country" or something else?

The forum database purge has reduced the accounts from over 110,000 to 9824, should be interesting to see that shoot up with applications.

I went with "f13.net" and put WoW as our most active (not that I think that matters), though I think as a guild we are probably most coherent in EVE.

edit:  Crap I've played or Beta'd nearly every MMO on that list.

The form would only let me pick one (probably for the better).

"f13.net" will work, since our EVE corp is named "f13".

I didn't sign up as f13.net, but put me in the beta anyways! All dupes I find during beta get reported if I get my own account! Limited time offer!

That's closed beta they were asking about.

Lineage 2 was the only game from the MMO "played" list I haven't played yet -- maybe I should check to see they have a free trial or something.

My closed beta'd list is larger than my played while 'active' list...

Also, Calandryll it's "Silmarillion" not "Simarillion"

Yes, but we've also had Bat Country as a standard for a while also.  I'm sure some of us still have that tag in some game. Best not to confuse people or confuse Cal.

Go with "f13.net". Homogenize.  And yah, I think I've almost played or beta tested every game they listed. Scary.

European signup worked for me earlier, but I was already a code m member, if that's what causing you trouble Sairon you could try the main codemasters site www.codemasters.co.uk

LOTRO offers amazing potential for comedy, tolkien geeks mixing with mmo players on voice chat, I can't wait.

I have no interest in playing this game for free right now. My expectations are that low. There's only upside, I guess.

I have never played WoW.

Well, I went with EvE for the game, and that's 50-100 people.
