Did I miss something? The only times I've been unable to log in I remember was for "maintenance" I thought was around expansions. But this morning (~8-8:30am EST) the client now shows "Scheduled downtime every day between 11:00 and 12:00 GMT". How can you have daily downtime on a shardless world?
They've had daily downtime since the game launched. Need it for stuff like respawning asteroid fields and no doubt lots of hidden housework. Gives everyone a chance to swing their dicks on Eve-O anyway.

I am intrigued as to why you think shardlessness means no daily maintenance. When SWG shrinks to a single server they will be shardless. But they'll still have memory leaks you could fill a bath with. An, erm, memory bath. Of some sort.
nothing, was just surprised. Don't mind waiting. I suppose whether it's a cluster of one apparent world or set of app server shards it's the same. Carry on.
Going down for a bit daily is one of the reasons they can avoid a lot of the crazy server problems that games like WoW have. Which would you rather have, downtime during work in the UK/Europe and at the crack of dawn in the US every day or six-hour downtimes once a week and memleaks and the like?
Heh well just to be provincial, at GMT -6 the downtime is right when I'd like a nice quiet hour sipping coffee and mining rocks while catching up on my NPR. At least on sharded worlds I can pick a time shifted server.
