As a 38 druid, I have 3 arena tokens out of six attempts (all contested).  Two successes were just run of the mill "one 60 versus me in the Goblin Rocket Helmet" adventures, but the last one was the height of hilarity.

A 60 Horde priest and warlock faced off against two paladins.  I perched on the edge of the arena to enjoy the show- with two teams of two working together, I didn't have much hope unless only one of the four emerged living.  Things were not going well as the Horde team was owning the pallies.  One pally went down after three or four minutes.  Up until this point they stayed near the chest but then the last pally drew both of their views away from the chest in the back corner of the arena.  I quickly moved in and started looting.  With 3-4 seconds to go, the Warlock noticed me.  Incredibly, he casts some sort of AE spell that does NOT knock me off the chest.  I loot and quickly die, and the horde team proceeds to swear at me in general chat for fifteen minutes ("It would have been my twelth one newb").   It was especially sweet because I grabbed a nice set of leather Arena Bracers that have a 5% drop rate from that chest.

Moral of the story and other successes- its fun to enrage level 60s who lose to someone 22 levels below them. Anyone else have good arena token grabs?

I wouldn't call it trolling. It was actually a nice story to show that occasionally, someone not level 60 can get something fun. In the level 30-45 zone.

I have always wished i could get one of those, but every time i try, there are litterally 15 or more people at the arena within seconds of the call.  Stupid predictable timers.

On the other hand, it shows how a lower level can spoil a perfectly decent PvP match between two equal sides.

Cue discussion of dishonour.

Shrug, anything goes in the arena, and it's technically in a level 40ish zone.  The chest rewards are level 40.

If anyone is out of place, it's the level 60s.

Agreed.

At lvl 45, my warrior currently has 8 trinkets. Only 4 more for teh pwnage!

With that trinket, gnome rocket boots, and swiftness potions, my warrior will be a flag-running machine in WSG.

Isn't the Arena the only place where pvp is completely open?  I mean, can't Alliance fight Alliance there?  If so, I'll agree that it's an "anything goes" place with no rules.

I admire a 38 snagging a chest from 60s who are camping it.

I have never been in there.  Maybe I should check it out.

It would be cool if Blizzard decided to put in smaller battlegrounds, so people could go 2x2 or 3x3.

There's a similar area in Dire Maul (in fact it's the reason that it's named that).  I know several people whose guilds have had dueling competitions in one or the other.

Witty banter not included.

The problem with "smaller" battlegrounds is that in random matchups, it would be FAR too easy to have sides completely imbalanced.  certain team combinations on the 3v3 or 2v2 level become damn near indestructable.  I highly doubt blizzard will ever have battlegrounds devoted to anything less then 10v10, simply due to the fact that their class model is deliberately designed to not be equally balanced.

In the arena? By getting the treasure chest?

The 2 x 2 60s are of course welcome to keep fighting one another if that was their reason for being there. I'm sure there's a good chance that when the loot walked off they lost interest in their PVP though.
