Seriously. if that's not the definition of Jumping The Shark I don't know what is. That's not funny. Like, at all. It's funny in the sense of Schild thinking this proves he was right all along about WoW failing sucking gonna crash any day now really I mean it this time having orcs that look a lot like Warhammer orcs. Someone's jumped the shark in this thread!

He's saying it looks like it's that time of the month again for your avatars wife. And that he has dead shrubbery on his head.

Truly he should change his avatar. It's poorly drawn girl.
Quoting at random :) Anyway, it's just my shout out to a webcomic that literarly changed my mood one day from "OMFG I FEEL LIKE CRAP" to "Fuck it. Life is good". And it's not poorly drawn, I love the style. Also Haemish and Hoax are wrong too - it would be legal and i'm awesome, so you can't really hate me. Smart too. Bonus points for whoever can guess which webcomic is it :)

Hentai for Christ Online? That kind of bothers me as this is the most cuddly, lovable and positive comic to be ever conceived.

If it's Megatokyo it's from the first few months they were drawing. Because that drawing is weak sauce.

Megatokyo? Megatokyo is positive like a suicide note. Also, looks like a different style.

Having played Warhammer religiously for a few years, yes, that's funny.
' Having played all kinds of miniature wargames for more than 20 years, I found the first panel was alright, they could have taken it somewhere, at which point it became Tycho (or is it Gabe? who cares really?) masturbating with a copy of a poor quality fantasy novel. Hey, maybe it's a Warhammer novel. And Blizzard's orcs look just like Warhammer's orcs? fuck, no! really?

There I go leaving the green out of my text again. Sorry.
I know Rodney and his wife. Not well, but I've had dinner and drinks and hung out with them at conventions due to mutal friends and co-workers. So I am actually familiar with the early MT and what it devolved into. Thus my quip.

But it really goes to show the basic difference in philosphy of the two IPs. Warcraft isn't much more, at it's heart, then your stereotypical fantasy world (Good vs. Evil; civilization vs barbarism). Tolkien based, we'll say. Warhammer..... you're fucked. You can either side with declining civilization ruled by autocrats and intrigue, or the psychopathic insanity of things that want to eat your soul or fuck your armpit or mutate your body and looks destined to win. It's self-destructive like Schild at a Tarantino fan convention. Lovecraft or Moorcock based. Mieville and some of the post-modernists sort of fit in here. The only other major philosphy is the modern-based; gritty realists and disillusioned idealists/romantics, innumerable shades of grey. Cook, Erikson, Martin. The only real example of a game is Bungie's Myth, which still in my mind has the best tactical combat of any RTS.

it's called Count Your Sheep. Here's a taste: The thing is I have a kid cousin and she really says stuff like that. A friend of mine linked me to that particular strip because I was whining to her how crappy my mood was. It really helped :)

It's not an especially good Cthulhu riff though. It's done in the same overblown style that so many other things are, and doesn't translate well to humour, for me at least. Warcraft is a bit more than Tolkienesque, these days at least, as the Horde aren't especially bad guys and the Alliance aren't as shiningly good as they appear at first glance if you read through their backgrounds. Warhammer OTOH, is an eclectic collection of mostly-stolen IP concepts, that have had a little tweak here and there and grown on from there. The defining theme of Warhammer/40k, Chaos, is ripped wholeheartedly from Moorcock's work, right down to the eight-pointed star as it's primary symbol. But then again the WH IP was originally created by pot-smoking, Moorcock-and-Tolkien-reading, D&D-playing, Black Sabbath and Led Zep-listening (to), 1970's guys, who set the tone for the same appropriation/homage heavy universe that's been lumbering along ever since. And yeah, the new PA is a good one, and I have to agree that the first panel is especially good. Damn. Guess that means the shark wasn't there for the WH comic.. Tycho even expresses some viritol towards Starforce in the news page. Now that it's somewhat safe to say so, as it seems Ubi is potentially backing away from it.

They _pimped_ Chaos Theory back in the day. I don't remember them saying the PC Version had Starforce EVEN ONCE, despite them doing the comic and all sorts of shit for it. Otherwise, I'd have known it was on there.

I wouldn't be surprised if they didn't know at the time that StarForce was on there. Ubi sure as hell didn't advertise it. I wouldn't have known myself if you hadn't pointed it out.

I'm sure that they'd have found out about it when they got their copies of it from Ubi, you know, around the same time the stores got it, if not before. And, you know, the "diminished" thing was pretty weak all things considered. But then we're flogging the dead horse at this point.

It didn't really strike a funny bone in me... I thought it was clever and it entertained me, but I couldn't describe it as funny. A lot of PA stuff is like that for me now, only very few of them are funny, though the majority of the rest entertain me. On a side note I finally fogured out wtf they were going on about in their "a very merchy christmas". Now it makes sense, and actually has a very clever tie in to one of their older comics. Too bad I didn't know wtf it all meant as I read it.
