If you're looking for responses, I'm....Not.

I actually had to uninstall an assload of games to make room for stuff (mostly video and such) and EQ2 with it's Herculean 7 GB was a no brainer. I'm playing mostly console stuff now anyway - MS Saga, Disaster Report, and Samurai Western.

I'm actually a bard too. Big gameplay change from the normal stuff that I play.

It's alright overall. The PVP rules are mind-bogglingly stupid, but with a bard you can stealth, track, and run fast, so I'm enjoying it.

I just got my class defining snare, hence the 14 kill streak. Dirges become great at 30 and return to sucking promptly at 35.

Here's an example of how "SOE is fucking us again!" is a popular catchphrase.

None of those motherfuckers play their own games. Dig this.

So I'm leveling along, about to hit 36. I'm in a group with 5 other guys, in a zone where the PK range is +/- 12 levels. We're killing level 39 and 40 ^^^ heroic shit. I'm the lowest one there, because I play a dirge I get to group with higher level people.

Now, none of us have attacked ANY players in the last 45 minutes. We've been just chopping away at these NPCs. The other guys in the group are 37, 37, 36, 39, 40.

Along comes a level 51 enemy player. Necromancer. He sends his pet at ME and casts a single spell and I'm studying earthworms in about 1 second, give or take half a second. Mages get invis, so he stayed at the fringes and positioned himself behind where we were looking and just bombed me, and he was out of there before anyone could react. He could have killed the entire group if he wanted I'm sure.

Now repeat the same scenario every 10-30 minutes for 3 hours. That was my experience last night.

It goes the other way too. Being 35 in a +/- 12 zone, you'd think I could attack a level 23, right? Wrong. Highest group member only. 28s!

This is really the tip of the iceberg. The entire PK flagging and shit is busted beyond belief. The devs have no clue.

Hang on, I thought in an open pvp setting natural-player-driven-justice-systems(tm) would develop?

So the situation you describe could not possibly occur. Surely?

It's not open pvp, unfortunately.

There are two (three, if you count exiled - I've not seen any yet.) sides, and there are level ranges.

The level ranges are there because EQ is stupidly item and level based, so much that someone 5 levels higher than you is going to destroy you 100% of the time unless you're the template of the month.

You have 135 slashing, the guy you're fighting has 160 defense. You lose, try again!

Its not stupid, just the natural consequence of trying to put a PvP shoe on a PvE foot.

Is Blackburrow safe for Qeynosians?

EDIT: -/+ 12 seems ridiculously huge

BB isn't safe, there's normally a full group of level 24-26 FP people in there.

There are RAIDS of FP people in Stormhold each night.

They can kinda be avoided though. If you've got the right class or you're really on your toes. I've never played EQ2 PVE so I can't compare, but I'd like to think it makes it much more exciting.

Most zones are +/- 8, some 10 and some 12. Some are unlimited.
