Checked my standings etc and discovered my standings with republic fleet seem to have fallen a lot faster than I was expecting - entirely my fault since I run amarr navy agents, but does raise a question...

If I don't plan on working for that corporation/faction and don't need to enter systems their faction claims sovereignty over, am I going to be gimping myself horribly if I don't attempt to balance my standings and just carry on regardless?

I've read that a -2.0 or lower standing with a corporation puts all their agents out of your reach - but does that apply to agents you already have standing with or not?   For example if I built up standing ahead of time with their agents would those agents still be accessible to me after I go under the -2.0 boundary, based on personal standings?

If you drop to -5 or lower then you will no longer be welcome in their space and their NPC navy ships will fire on you. Luckily, in any decent ship their damage is easily tanked but you'd best not plan on flying a hauler through their turf.  As far as the agents go I'm not sure if your personal standing outweighs the corporate standing or not.

And you can always invest in the diplomacy skill, which gives you +standings for each level of the skill with any corp/faction that dislikes you. At 5, it's +4, I think, meaning you just need to make sure not to go below -9.

Thanks, always nice to get a nod from people "in the know".

Since KoS was mentioned...

Do you know if it only apply to systems controlled by that faction, or is it "global" for all their ships / sentries / stations etc. even if they are located outside territory controlled by that faction

As I recall, Diplomacy is +0.4 per level.  I've got it at level 2, and it is nice, but I wouldn't count on it bailing you out of serious faction trouble.  Myself, I don't plan to take it over level 3, I've got too many other things I want to take to five.

If my negative faction becomes a problem I plan to just run missions for Sisters of Eve or one of the other neutral factions that gives a boost to all the race factions when you work for them. More likely though I'll just stay out of Amarr/Caldari space with Regel and use an alt to go there if I need to pick something up.
