Series Creator Doesn't Want to Continue the Series

I still have never seen the show, but figured there were enough fans to let the news out here.

How have you never seen this show? You of all people NEED to watch it- you would totally 'get it'. I heard about this a day or two ago. Despite all the Showtime rumors, I was bracing myself for this day to come, so it isn't a total suprise. At least we got 2.5 seasons of brilliance.

Ya know, I "got it" and didn't find it interesting or brilliant. Sure, it was funny once in a while, but the way people talked it up, I expected it to breath fire.

Watch a couple in series on a DVD -- they grow on you quickly like the The Wire or Deadwood.

That's sad but not suprising news.  Guy went through the ringer by Fox.  Presumably they didn't like the lefty humor?

This was just one show for me that could be really funny at times, but often it spiraled into periods of uncomfortable awkward humor. I'm not a fan of the the type of humor where you're supposed to be laughing at how out of touch the characters are. That doesn't fill 30 minutes every week. The Office is the same way for me.

I actually picked up the DVDs and watched about half of the first season and I was like "No." Returned it to Gamestop the next day.

In schild's defense, AD is completely bereft of tentacle rape, so it may not be for everyone  evil evil

My girlfriend was considering getting us matching "Tentacoo wape!" t-shirts for my birthday (She's a huge Ghastly fan), but alas, no dice. :(  Tentacle hentai is for everyone, when it's cute!

So, yeah, Arrested Development.  A brilliant little show, the non-douchebag's answer to the Royal Tenenbaums (Yeah, I kinda liked RTs, but like anime, it's one of those 'nice gig, shame about the fanbase' deals).  David Cross is genius, and if you ever get a chance to pick up / download his comedy CD's, do so, especially "Shut Up You Fucking Baby".  Also, get Mr. Show on DVD to relive some of his greatest hits.

It gave us a good run, and it's definitely worth sharing.  I got my parents the first season DVDs for Christmas, and they're really enjoying 'em.  Along with Chapelle's Show, is this a new trend of good comedy shows going out when they're on top?  (Probably not.)

Also, maybe it's just me (I watched a good chunk of Ally McBeal), but Portia De Rossi plays the same character in everything she does.

I would draw a rough line between Arrested Development and Curb Your Enthusiasm (Larry David's show on HBO), in that if you liked one, you're likely to appreciate the other.  Unscientific, but it holds up for the people I know.
