I thought I'd mention this because some of you might be Phil Hendrie fans. He's famous for his radio show, in which he's created various characters that "call in to his show" over various asinine topics, frequently satirizing current events. The kicker is the small percentage of his audience that believe the characters are real people and call in to fight with them. He also did the voice of that computer system on Team America (I forget what it was called. Sorry). Anyways, he's appearring in a sitcom on NBC called "Teachers", which premeres tonight (3/28). It might be worth checking out.

The system was called INTELLIGENCE. Just so they could make the joke "we have no intellgence! I repeat, we have no intelligence!"

I watched Teachers, it was funny. Several jokes had my cracking up. Overall, the show is witty, cute, and a good premise, but it reminds me too much of Friends-type humor.

Oh, I think I accidentally just caught about 5 minutes of that show tonight. Sort of eh... the chick was hot, though.

Cool. I have about 2 hours before it shows. Maybe the WoW servers will be up by the time it's over.

What the fuck is wrong with you? The show was the opposite of funny. I may very well take away your blue name for that kind of shit.

Is this Teachers the British one-joke channel 4 thing, or a whole new thing with the same name?

Hey, series 1 & 2 of Teachers was great - don't you dare. If you worked in a Secondary in the UK, you'd laugh more at it !
Also, no, I think this is a whole new thing. It just wouldn't translate at all I don't think...

It was ok. Phil Hendrie was great, though his part was small in this episode. The main character annoyed the shit out of me.

The previews for the show told me that I did not want to watch it, no matter who was on it.

Not having seen the UK show, I don't know if this was an attempted translation. If it was, it absolutely sucked. Of course, not all translations are bad. I actually like the US version of The Office better than the original.

Ugh. I got stuck watched the last 10 minutes of the show. I thought it was fucking horrible. Specially the last bit about "What if some one was to say to you that they really DID like teaching, they liked teaching so much that it hurt, and embarrased them to admit it, what would you do if some one said this to you?". Horrible acting and show.

What did everybody hate about it?
For me, I just didn't find the main character's jokes to be that great, and his constant hitting on the British chick got annoying after about 15 seconds -- unfortunately, it had about another 25 minutes to go. His dreadfully bad pickup attempts would instantly brand anybody as a loser that just doesn't get it, but he's supposed to be the cool guy. The first episode was far too early for anybody to care if they hook up or not, anyway.
And what was up with the substitute teacher? She wanted nothing to do with him until he gave her a donut, then all of sudden it's one-night stand time.

I didn't hate it at all. You people have some weird tastes in shows and comedy, but I liked most of it. Sure it's weak in areas. Seinfeld's pilot was weak, but there was room for something. I think the premise and the characters leave room for something. I don't think the main character is supposed to be the "cool guy." I think he's supposed to be the guy who tries to be cool and makes shit up. Anyway, I'll give it three shows before I give it the final cut.

Maybe you're right. I just caught the impression that he was supposed to be the hip one, especially when he opened a beer bottle with his teacher's desk -- one of the show's better moments. I'd like to see more of Hendrie. Of course, he's the only reason I watched the show in the first place, but beyond that, I like his character. There's a cantankerous teacher like that at the school I work at and I'm always laughing at what he says to his kids, even though he's not trying to be funny.
It's only got six episodes. By then, NBC will know if they want to keep it or not.

6 seconds was enough to decide it was complete and utter shit.

My laptop is semi-broken right now and will only run in safe mode - thus, no sound. However, I found The Most Extraordinary Space Investigations to be remarkably watchable without it.
Also, I envy Jimmy Kimmel.
