Hey kids- it is that time again. I have set up a free CBS Sportsline bracket league for us (and some RL buddies). I need E-mail addresses from everyone who wants to play so I can send the invitation (there doesn't appear to be a way to join via URL, but you can try- http://f13.mayhem.sportsline.com ).

I have set it up to allow everyone 3 brackets, so the misery can extend longer than the first day (which is usually when I get knocked out of contention), and the scoring is thus- for each round, picking a winner is good for the points equal to the number of the round and the seed of the winner added; example- # 12 Utah State beats #5 Washington in the first round- those of you who picked Utah State would get credited with 13 points (and I would kill myself, but that is besides the point).

PM me your email address or post it in the thread- I can delete them if you don't want them public for all time.

Let the gnashing of teeth and rending of school-colored garments begin!

I am seriously considering a trip to Vegas for next year's opening round. I think that would be fun as hell. I would have done it this year, but I am already scheduled to go over Memorial Day for a bachelor party.

Invites sent, btw.

This is going to be very interesting, considering the only games I saw this year were both Duke versus NC games, the Big10 championship (stupid Iowa) and a few highlight reels that didn't tell me much.  Oh and I watched Texas Tech get owned by USF live which was pretty cool.

I'm going to be at the Dallas first and second round games.

Memphis is there as well as my alma mater, Texas.

The first game tips off at around 11:30 am, and the last game will finish around 11 pm. Four games. It's going to be great.

Tourney games are always fun. Texas (San Antonio/Dallas/Austin) almost always hosts either first two rounds or regional finals.

A good idea is a good idea forever.

As per usual I'll be cheering for my conference, the SEC. Mostly because my alma mater is a football school and therefore didn't even try, and because I hate all things ACC. Here are my SEC predictions:

Most likely to go far: Florida - they are in the weakest bracket imo, and their main problem this year was that they just couldn't solve Tennessee for some reason. I see them upsetting Ohio State and getting to the elite 8, but I think they will lose to Boston College, who goes to the final four. I think Villanova is overrated as a #1 in that bracket.

Most likely to get upset: Tennessee - they have been declining a lot. The sheer fact they are #2 in a bracket at 21-7 is a crime against basketball. The four losses in the last six games, ALL of which were to UNRANKED teams. I wouldn't be shocked if Winthrop kicks them in the ass.

Biggest surprise team: Alabama - they aren't expected to get out of the first round, but I think they will beat Marquette and give UCLA a run for their money.

Kentucky is always a threat, but their bracket spot is awful, so I think they are screwed. LSU is in a similar boat having to face Duke if they get remotely far.

This is going pretty poorly so far, I hope Nevada stops being chumps sometime soon...  Oh and Texas AM needs to win, that'd be sweet, I hate Syracuse which was logic enough for me to pick against them.

Poor Gerry McNamara!  Did anyone else see his pathetic press conference.

As a fighting Texas Aggie, I did not know what to do when the final score was announced.  It has only been since 1980 since A&M won an NCAA tournament game.

The Big East is really taking it on their overrated chins right now.  Wasn't the Big East 0-3 on Thursday?  Not a good start for "the toughest conference in the nation."

My biggest fear in this tournament is that Adam Morrison's trailer park chic moustache will somehow become stylish.

Thats when the crappy Big East teams played.  I believe they have four in there right now?  If other conferences would have had teams worth putting in, the Big East wouldn't have to put crappy teams in there.  Lets go WVU.

Wow- UCLA-Gonzaga and Texas-WVU were CRAZY. Both teams I was rooting for lost, but man- seriously exciting. I   Heart the tournament!

LSU makes me happy to be in the SEC by knocking off Duke. If Boston College falls, the ACC is OUT OF THE WHOLE THING. They can cram that up their self-righteous "basketball conference" asses.

Also, if Texas wins both National Titles in Football and Basketball in the same year, the world might end.

Paelos, it is worse than that.  Texas is also the reigning National Champ in Baseball.  So, they have a shot to become the first school in history to win all 3 in the same year IIRC.

As an Aggie, this will be known as the year of the ulcer.

Thank the fucking lord Texas lost.  I'm so sick of seeing burnt orange on every living soul in this town.

Although I'm sad that my Lady Bears won't be repeating their national titile this year.   cry

If I may.

GEORGE MASON FOR TEH WINZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ

Michigan? Pwnd. North Carolina? Pwned w/ easy. Wichita? lol.

And now UCONN. Pwnd. PWND IN THE FACE.

Final Four, baby. And to my knowledge the ONLY CAA team in the Final Four (or even the Elite Eight!) and the first CAA team to go to the Final Four since, well, yeah.  It's time to bring the ivory towers down. I hope you people are wearing hard hats.

I'm just as pleased for the SEC. If they put two teams in the final four, that's gold.

I'd like to root for the GMU Groinpunchers (seriously, that dude should have been suspended for the entire postseason) but I cannot resist the allure of a team led by a ginormous fatass nicknamed "big baby."  Go LSU.

This post makes me want to squeeze into my badass red jeans.

Bah. What the crap was that? The Mason I saw on the court today was not the Mason that beat U-Conn.

I am now a panda of annoyance. Grr.

<ahem>

A winner is me, looks like.   cool  For picking 2 teams to get to the final four and then getting nothing right after that... not too shabby.  Thx for the organizational skillz, WAP.

PS - So is there a custom title in this for me or what?   rolleyes
