Someone with more time than sense has gone to the trouble of adding up all the ebay sales of mtgo cards they could find for the month of January...http://www.geocities.com/ipcryss/mtgo.html?1141314103566 In january aproximately 700,000 items changed hands for a total of just over $112k. Now imagine how much cash would be changing hands if the mtgo client itself could be used for any remotely effective form of secure trading..... |

When lots of 10-20k commons for for $25-$50 yea, 700k for $100,000 makes sense. |

Hardly seems like a booming business then. The shipping alone on 10,000-20,000 cards I would think would not be cheap.
I've seen better mass-buy prices from online bots, like 1 tix for 150 commons or so. But whatever.

 Edit: duh, STOOPID.

um. Magic the Gathering : Online And typically that many cards would be sold by putting them all in a new account (which are effectively free to set up) and then selling the username/password. Or am I missing your point? |

Hi Long time Luker, first time poster.
in a new account (which are effectively free to set up) and then selling the username/password.

I know this thread is long dead, but I've been playing MTGO's free trial for a few months now and I'm close to getting an account and playing for "real". Could somebody explain how I can get an effectively free account? Would prefer to spend $$$ on cards and not the account itself if possible. Thanks Grit |

They're effectively free because you pay $10, but you then get a gift receipt for the online store to buy things. |

Thanks for the information. I ended up getting an account based on it, then promptly went 0-5 in the release tourny.
Looks like I'm going to be added a few $$$ to the million dollar industry.

Anyway, I was looking up some of my girlfriend's old cards. Apparently a Grim Tutor from the starter set is worth about $95.00 USD. Awesome!

Plays, actually. We picked up some themed decks from the newer blocks and had a good time tonight. Her Lorawyn white weenie deck ran me over though. i think I was playing some hand nuke deck (black/red), but it couldn't keep up. Plus, we bought a booster and she pulled a 1/1 pro-red chump that she kept drawing luckily that I couldn't handle. But yeah. I think I lucked out.    |

Mate, you played a few games with my wife before she was my wife.  Don't act surprised that this stuff happens. |
