First, great grouping with you folks last night, and I very much appreciate the efforts you all made to scale down to my level. That was my first trip to BB, and I'm beginning to see why people like the dungeons in this game so much.
I also learned, first hand, the difference between an AOE that targets the encounter and an AOE that is more geographic :) So, err, sorry about that whole omg-lookittherats! messup in BB.
Finally, I want to catch up, and I don't want to ask everyone to scale to my level. Makes me feel guilty if it happens too much. Looking at the quest system, it feels like the best way to level up is to complete as many same-level quests as possible, since the XP from doing the quest, and the XP from finishing it would be faster than just grinding mob kills. This was the case in WoW. Is it the case here?
If so, where's best to quest? I picked up some Forest Ruins same-levels from Baubbleshire. I've got some taking me to Antonica. The rest either fall into "I want to do this for later reasons" or "I can delete this because it's only to help teach me about the zone", so I'll be deleting as desired.
So, any thoughts on "best" quests/series to do for maximum level gainage?

Questing is the best solo experience around.
Grouping and taking blue/white triple up mobs is the best overall experience. The best will be a trio of tank, healer, dps. That trio can't be topped when focusing on just blue triple ups.
What level are you currently?
Mid teens (13-16) head to the Cabin along the road in antonica. Just follow the main road until you hit it, you'll see a mender guy standing outside. There are 3-4 different quest lines in there that are all pretty easy to solo. Around 16 you can head to Windstalker village and grab the quests in there.

Depending on how long it takes to patch this sucker to current, Im starting a live sub this week so there'll be another newbie to knock arounf with Darniaq.
I just cant make up my mind to go scout or mage to start (swashbuckles or conj/summoner accordingly).

Hmmm... I can probably answer questions there. I have a 58 Swashbuckler and a 40 Conjuror. Both solo well and group even better. Conjuror has less to upgrade as a few key spells are all you need to keep as good as possible vs. a Swashbuckler is both skill and equipment dependant. Solo, Conjuror can take on harder mobs (even/yellow) solo whereas a Swashbuckler relies on speed of kill to kill numerous lower level (blue) mobs. Any other key factors you want to know about?

I disagree with this - you really need to work to keep your primary stats up. My nukes are actually less effective as I level up and the questing has slowed, thus I'm getting less +int gear. So my main nuke, which was doing say 450-900 at level 25 does 425-850 at level 26, given the same gear. That bummed me out, since I'm not a gear whore.

Ah ok coolness. On my first character in WoW, I stuck to the logical quest progression pretty much through 60. There were just enough quests. There seems to be many more quests one can stumble upon in close proximity to others in EQ2, because all new characters start so close to others within their respective cities. There's the inevitable quest funneling that follows respective quest chains in the starting towns and city adventure zones, but it seems like that starts around the mid-teens once people are in Antonica.
I'm currently 11.25 or thereabouts.

You're doing 400-800 damage with your main Conjuror nuke at level 26? WTF am I doing wrong as my main nuke is only like 250ish damage at level 40. Do you know the name of that spell as I might have missed it. Around level 11-12 I would head to the farm just outside of antonica. Walcott there has one quest he'll give you then the beetles and crows there will drop various other quests called Far Seas Requisitions. When you get one of those read the scroll out of your inventory and accept the quest. Those will keep you bust for a bit as you fill those orders. While working on those you can hit the other cabin I mentioned around 13 and start working those quests. You may even get some overlap and be able to work 2 quests at the same time.

I'm a wizard. I was just putting that in to illustrate the effect of gear on combat effectiveness (Ball of Fire).

Oh I gotcha... I don't think conjurors will notice the gear deficiency as much as a pet is only dependant on the spell level (app, adept, master) and not on gear as far as I know. Most of our damage comes from our pet.
By the way check out Fog Grimmin (I think that's it) gear on the broker when you hit level 30. It's usually incredibly cheap, less than 1g per piece, and has +int on every piece. A cheap alternative to the player made and rare stuff.

SOE has stated they plan to address this damage degradation mechanic at some point.

You can also just run around in Qeynos and collect every quest you can find. Hit the map and go to every orange circle and every filled orange circle. WHen your complete quests thin out go and hit up one of the adventure zones (Forest Ruins, Cave, etc) to complete some quests. I think I went to 13-14th before I needed to leave the city. Mindless but kind of enjoyable (the first time at least).
You should also hit up the cloth/leather merchants in NQ for their quests. Kill some bears and get some pretty neat armor. There were also a couple of nice Forest Ruins quests in Baubbleshire for some nice items, but with the revamp in LU19 I'm not sure they exist any more.
