Alpha Team is flying over the forest zone situated in North-west Raccoon City, where we are searching for the helicopter of our compatriots, Bravo Team, who disappeared during the middle of their mission. Bizarre murder cases have recently occurred in Raccoon City. There have been outlandish reports of families being attacked by groups of about ten people. Victims were apparently eaten. Bravo Team was sent to the hideout of the group, but we lost contact.

I've never played a Resident Evil game, having not owned any consoles in between my NES and my DS.  This'll be my big chance, I guess - any word on whether this installment is any good?

Supposedly it's very good.

Edit: Famitsu gave it a 32/40.

So that would be an 8/10 or a B+?

Famitsu rates pretty hard, so 32/40 is pretty good.

The rebirth mode is damn schlocky - haven't tried the other mode. But it's an interesting experiment and the classic RE gameplay translate 1,000 times better to the DS dpad than the PS 1 and 2 analog sticks. Good stuff.

Picked it up.

Revival mode is weird. Waves of zombies pop up every now and then on room entry, and you have to fight them off with your knife in first person. It gets kinda irritating pretty quickly, but they drop ammo and in general ammo is much more common. some of the puzzles have been upgraded to use the touchscreen, and it looks like the microphone is used some time (which gives me a bad feeling).

The classic mode is well...resident evil pretty much. No more, no less, ignoring the addition of the quickturn and the ability to draw your knife without equipping it. A more hardcore RE fan I know says Hunters are way easier to kill since they have no invincibility frames now when they get shot.
