Lord Buttrot

on: January 27, 2006, 11:43:41 AM

So I was fighting in Gadgetzan last night with my guildmates. Mostly drawing the 60s outside to fight, and killing a lowbie grey here and there as they wandered by. Typical situation in Gadgetzan, really.

So during the fighting, I get a tell from a GM saying they are going to change my name! It pissed me off, because I *know* it was one of the Alliance out there couldn't take a few deaths. I went to bed really frustrated, because for me, my name is one of the strongest points of attachment to my character. It sucks that Blizzard's naming system is setup to let you make names they wouldn't approve of, but then essentially give other players the control over how and when to enforce it. It just really disapointed me, and I was a little surprised at how attached I had become to my name, and how robbed I felt when I learned they're taking it away.  cry

edit: Oops. Forgot to mention my toon's name is (was) Buttrot. Undead Mage.

I was a young apprentice to a M Buttrot while living in a commune in the Paris sewers.

Why am I homeless?  Why do all you motherfuckers need homes is the real question.

You might be able to get it back if you claim a roleplaying reason for it.  Posting your plight on the WoW boards is guaranteed to help too.

Your name was Buttrot?

Are you 12? If so, ok...

If not, take the suggestion as a chance to expand your horizons a bit.  rolleyes

Perhaps the mods would be kind enough to let you have it as a title below your name here...

Honestly I'm surprised you're surprised by this. You made the name knowing it was questionable, and should have fully expected it. (And if you didn't...see Paelos.)

Man, I keep rereading the original post and it's like the Edit is the punchline to an extremely confusing gag.

Still makes me laugh every time tho.

Kudos.

I don't get why they changed it, it seems like a cromulent name to me.

But then, they also changed by character's name.  Fucking nazis.

BTW that character's name was Analhemorrhage.

What's wrong with mildly crude, juvenile names? It sure as hell beats "Deathdawg" or those stupid, unpronouncable strings of consonants that pass as fantasy names.

I just hope my other characters don't get spotted. Sugarbooger, Cuddlecrap, and Thongbear* are all very dear to me.

p.s. I renamed to Snotrot. Crotchrot was taken.

* Thongbear is an Alliance toon who spends his whole time in Furbolg form from that quest wand in Ashenvale

I would direct you to the definition of "crude" and "juvenile" but really, what's the point?

I would take both names as a warning the player is an idiot. Not saying you are. But that would be my initial read and I probably wouldn't take the time to find out differently.

Now off I go to play my character "Grandma's Cookies"

My favorite guild name on Crushridge is "Me So Hordey".  This is not a joke.

I am the only person playing WoW that uses the name generator.

That same guild name exists on Llane..

As far as good (but off topic, since it's not really offensive) guild names go, my favorite on Llane is "Blood Bath and Beyond".. classic.. If they suited my play style I'd join them in a heartbeat..

I think there is a "OMGLAZERSPEWPEWPEW" on every server.  We have a guild on mine called "OMGKITTENSMEWMEWMEW" which I think is much much better...

Nothing quite as pleasing as being pwned by someone who has OMGKITTENSMEWMEWMEW as their guild tag.

Do we get to share name puns here, now?

Cause I don't have any for WoW, but I have a good one for CoV.

It was a short dude with red hair, a green top hat, a green jacket, green pants, and a shamrock emblem on the jacket.  He had a zombie face and sort of runic tattoos.  His name was "The Necronomichaun"

Of all the naga/pewpew guild names that exist on every server I still think My Little Pwnies cracked me up the hardest.
