Holy shit, they're making a movie with my dog and Christopher Lee! http://www.bobbythedog.co.uk/trailer/bobby_high.mpgThe story of Greyfriar's Bobby has always been one of my favorite Scottish tales.  If anyone is unfamiliar with it, you should read up on it.  Especially if you're a dog lover and I know we have a few of those there.  I miss getting to walk by Bobby's statue in Edinburgh! Purists will argue that Bobby was actually a Skye or Cairn terrier, but c'mon... I seriously doubt that's going to detract from the movie.  The UK release date is listed as February 10th, but I can't find any info on a US release date.  I sure hope it comes here! Did anyone ever see the 60's Disney version?  I didn't realize there even was one until yesterday.

Well I think the target demographic was for people who actually have, you know, a soul... so I can understand the resentment.

You know what movie with animals I liked? Cats & Dogs. That shit cracked me up. But then, they were trying to kill eachother.
You know what the animal loving cinemagoers of today deserve? Turner and Hooch 2.

I don't remember Cats and Dogs.  Are you talking about that one with Jenine Garofalo and Uma Thurman?
Now Babe... that's a good animal movie.

At any point in the story, does the dog play basketball?
Does he make a slam dunk with his nose?
Does the referee open a rulebook, point to a specific passage, and say "There's nothing in the rulebook that says a dog can't play basketball"?
If the answer to any of the above questions is "No", then no thanks.

Yes, not one of Gordon "Cowley" Jackson's better roles, but it was a reasonable telling of the story, unlike "Challenge to Lassie", and I don't see the need for a remake. Here's Bobby:
