Skinny-dippin' in a sea of Lee, I'd propose on bended knee...

The more I read about the different classes, the less they appeal to me. I want a class that can solo well enough, be group friendly for those times I don't hate everyone, and promises to have some kind of staying power when PVP is implemented. Is that too much to ask?

Swashbuckler.

This is your class.  You will have stealth ability, nice group buffs, a group stealth, tracking, and lots of firepower (both AOE and single target).

No Nerf, but I put a link to this very thread and I said that you all can guarantee for my purity. I even mentioned your case, and see if they can take a look at your lawn from a Michigan perspective.

Berserker - combat health regen (group and self), AE attacks (great for groups of 4 no arrow mobs), melee group dps buffs, decent PvP stuns. A high level zerker can stun a PvP opponent for 7 seconds right off the bat with two skills (shield slam and Slay). The single target taunt is a casting interrupt as well.

As with EQ1, a good PvPer always makes generous use of potions. The right potions can make an even fight into a rout and vice versa.

I have never played WoW.

They have not gone into detail on how PvP will work.  I doubt they will just hit a switch and let us all fuck with each other.  Then again I could be wrong, and am often.

Fair enough. My observations come from /dueling and nothing else. I have never played anything but a berserker and I suck at PvP.

I have never played WoW.

You forgot Evac. As both a travel tool and a save your ass tool. Nice to have a 2 second cast time on it. And 15 minute reuse isn't horrible. Also, being a less popular class you have a better chance at getting master spells since the demand isn't as high.

So I've read quite a bit of the EQ2 forums over the last couple days trying to find something in the game that appeals to me enough (besides DoF shineys) to crack open my tin and give this game another try. I still haven't found what appeals to me yet, but I am simply amazed at the lack of hideously stupid on the forums. I guess after the Vault and Blizzard forums I'd forgotten what a well-run game forum was like.

Yeah I remember the whiplash I had logging into the EQ2 boards after the daily pummelling on the SWG boards last year.  It truly is amazing the difference in culture and moderator approach between them.

My third attempt. It's not perfect, as most people that hear me in /gu know, but it's vastly improved from the release state. Hey, I surmounted the 20th level barrier and I'm a real grown-up class now!

Since the Australians whined about having the daily server down time occur during their prime playing hours, I don't get to play with my morning cup of coffee anymore.  That said, I'll get some stuff for you in the guild bank tonight.

Everyone gets neat hats in the Kingdom of Sky expansion, actually.

Swashbucklers do indeed get a neat hat (left):

I found that image because I was thinking of making a brigand and reading the official board, what do brigands get?  They get to look like the hamburgler (bottom).  I hope these images are fake.

That's some funny shit. Hamburglar indeed.

But yeah, swashbucklers will have an awesome outfit. I'm hoping it'll be construed as just a tad too "faggy" for the l33t kiddies to want to play for otherwise we're in for a Dumas uprising when KoS is released.

On another note, I swear there's a running joke at SOE somewhere about the acronyms for their expansions.

Game just isn't for me.  A lot better than I thought it would be, but very 'meh' the last week or so.

Well, EQ2 is more enjoyable than I remember and it seems SOE is doing a good job with it. However, I just don't have the time to sink into a MMO anymore. There's other things I should be doing with my time and my second experience with EQ2 is at an end.

Well, I thought when the folks here talk about it again, it might have become better, saw the expansion with the original game for 20 Euro and bought it.

The translation is still fucked up and the two DVD version doesn't give me the ability to install the game in English. Fucking die already you Germanophiles!

I still had a bunch of Veteran awards for being an ex-Eq Player and having an Eq2 account in beta. But I can't overcome that shoddy translation work.

A couple of people have used this link:
http://download.station.sony.com/patch/download/eq2/eq2-us.zip
to get the (English) launcher which will download the entire game, of course it takes a long time to get all those gigs.
