Caracals are ready, 4 of em to be exact.  I know Sky, viin, and nix all wanted 1.  Would you like them escrowed?

What missiles do most people use with Caracals?

Reason ?

I am asking because I am still not sure if I should use EMP or Sabot projectile ammo.

As small as they get, yes.

Autocannons to be specific.

IMHO the bigger the better, esp. with a cruiser.
Rockets won't make a dent into most of the tougher NPC frigates.

I use exclusively kinetic heavy missiles on my Caracal for NPC hunting; the Caracal gets a nice big bonus to kinetic missile damage (5% or 10% per level of cruiser skill) which causes it to outstrip thermal missiles in terms of overall damage. I don't like swapping out ammo in the middle of battle.

I use heavies because I need all five racks firing heavies to kill a 185k-bounty battlecruiser rat in a reasonable amount of time (those bastards have some tough armor tanking capabilities) and I can just fit a target painter and float a pair of drones to counter frigates.

I use Assault Launchers with regular missiles (kinetic as well) against Frigate NPCs. Since heavy missiles don't do *that* much more damage to frigates, and the assault launchers launch more missiles in the same time span, I can take out enemy frigates fairly quickly.

Once I start getting cruiser+ targets I'll switch back to heavy missiles.

Look into a Ballistic Control System I; they speed up the ROF of a heavy missile rack significantly and also add damage. With rapid launch 2 and a BCS, my missile racks fire every 12 seconds, which is comparable to a standard rack, and my missiles get another +7% damage, which makes up for the few seconds of difference.

Also, range. 50km vs. 20km :)

When you're fighting exclusively frigate targets, a heavy rack is overkill, but once you get mixed cruiser/frigate targets...

For projectile ammo I use EMP on anything except other minmatar.
