Thrustmaster producer Gilles Raulet claims that these two triggers, which will appear on the "back face" of the pads, will make gaming "much more realistic than has been possible up until now". Okay then Gilles, how exactly do they do that? "When racing in a rally game, the two triggers allow you to perfectly and simultaneously balance your acceleration and braking to perform and control powerslides" – wow, just like real life!
Two... extra... triggers! My god! Four triggers! I need more fingers!
Not two extra, just two triggers. Like the xbox gamepad has had since 2001. My pc thrustmaster gamepad (firestorm) has shoulder and trigger buttons, but not actual triggers. That combined with a lack of triggers on the PS2 pad would make them new for that application. The xbox triggers are also pressure sensitive, which that Gilles guy apparently thinks is new in his device.
I'd like to see it before I pronounce judgement, but it certainly doesn't sound groundbreaking whatsoever. Unless you have a PS2, I guess (you can get an xbox adapter for the pc, so there's a triggered option available).
But pressure sensitive triggers are cool imo, so I'll probably buy one as I need a wireless pad.
I look at the new controllers and they have so many buttons I wonder how anyone can keep track of it all. Hell, playing Space Invaders on my Atari 2600 with a stick and 1 button was enough... keep adding buttons and controllers will look more like keyboards than gaming devices.
