Short ver - kid sets up a website, and charges $1/pixel to buy ad space, in sets of 10x10 pixel blocks. With a million pixels, it would cost $1m to buy the site. The odd thing is, it's worked - the guy has sold over 900k pixels so far. Here's the award for stupidist idea that actually took off.

Wow, and actually looking at the page, I'm not the only one - a significant portion of the ads on the original page are links to copycats hoping to cash in on the idea. Doesn't look like any of them are succeeding, though.
